Thread: New Years

I hear what everyone's saying....and what they're either outright saying (quadAAAA's) or trying their best not to say (Alan) is that they are going to LV over NYE to gamble. All the entertainment and meals and gifts and shows talk aside....it's really all just fluff, because no one who is as attached to the craps tables and the vp machines as Alan is goes to LV and doesn't spend what will likely be too many hours playing--especially after being on the winning streak he's on, and extra-especially because it's the beginning of a new calendar year. And I hope he and his 5th or 6th wife?? win big and put up the pictures.

Rob, it will surprise you that on our last trip to Caesars, Gwen and I only gambled the free play coupons. Once the free play coupons were in the machines -- we were out. There was a small exception of some limited play at a $10 craps table.

We spent more time hiking Red Rock, enjoying the 7 Stars Weekend events including the High Roller ride, and dining -- including two dinners at Nobu and a very enjoyable Sunday brunch at the newest Caesars property. We sat with a local couple (also 7 Stars) and traded tips about maximizing reward credits.

Gwen is not a gambler. But after winning we both had a great time shopping in the Forum shops. The winnings did not go back into the machines -- but instead went into Gucci and Diane Von Furstenberg.

In reality, I'm afraid to gamble on this next trip. Good luck can't continue forever -- and there will not be any free play, so whatever is bet will have to come out of my pocket.

I agree with Dan. He's wrapped it up very well.

Shirley "Dancer" was not a gambler either....until she met Bob. His life is all about going to casinos. Same as yours. So I hope you do come back with thousands extra again, after barely fitting in some playing time.

Playing until you lose 2000 credits, then going up in denom and playing until you lose 2000 credits, then going up in denom and playing until you lose 2000 credits, etc., can't be anything but time consuming. You sit in casinos all day yourself, Rob.

Nash, i have also been dumped from the Caesars invitation list. Got the same invites as you. I even checked my offers online and no Caesars invite there.

Jason is a high level Diamond and hasn't been on the Caesars NYE list in years.

Dan asked about the tips about maximizing Reward Credits that I exchanged with the local 7 Stars: Dan it was more of me giving them more of your tips. I did find out that as locals they qualify for offers we out of towners do not get. For example, they get $500 Visa Gift Cards as promotional gifts. The gal showed me a half dozen that she had in her purse -- mostly with partial balances remaining.

I told her that because of my play at Rincon, Caesars now considers Rincon my "home casino" but if I cut back on Rincon and concentrated play at Caesars it would generate more offers from Caesars. I don't know if that would put me on the list for "locals offers" but I think you'd agree that Visa Gift Cards are more valuable than free play offers.

What are you talking about? Reminds me of Cheers, but no need to post a video. A short time ago, you were through with Rincon.

Most valuable would be to quit losing.

(Nobody goes for fun either because you wouldn't go if you knew you were going to lose.)

Come to think of it, nobody comes to the casinos here on New Year's.

Sounds like the casinos "own" you guys.

P.S. Why do you keep posting that picture, Alan?

ThomasClines: discussion about "home casino" within Caesars determines where the bulk of your offers come from. Frankly, I'd rather be on the list for Caesars Palace than for Rincon. And I'd rather get $500 Visa Gift Cards for showing up at Caesars than getting various free play offers at Rincon.

I don't go with the intention of losing. I go trying to win. I'm just a bit more realistic about it which is why I use win goals and loss limits. When I win I take it home (or run to the bank to deposit as I did on my last trip to Caesars), and I have a limit to my losses which means I still can have a great time and don't make the drive home talking to my windshield about what kind of an idiot I am.

Whether or not you want to go to a Vegas casino for NYE is your own choice. Do what makes you happy.

I keep posting that picture just to give Rob a look at what wife #4 might look like.

Well, I haven't heard anyone refer to a casino as a "home" before in some way... emphasis of comprehension on the word, home.

You're kidding? She means that much to you.

Doesn't sound like fun! At least let (the rest of) it out.

P.S. Shouldn't be a matter of the windshield.

You don't understand how a company might use a phrase like "home casino"? Some expert you turned out to be.

Frankly I am tired of your posts. In the short time you've been here you've said too much.

    Chimp,

I have never gotten a NYE invite from Caesars so I wouldn't say I've been dumped from the list. We have only stayed there 2 or 3 times and we rarely play there.
Are you going to Vegas for NYE?

  15. #35
Having a home casino in Vegas won't get you "locals" offers unless you live in Vegas.

Some of those offers used to be pretty good, but they have declined a lot over the years.

No I'm not Nash. But I am considering going to Rincon. I don't usually like going on crowded nights when they have the big drawings, but it's that or stay home and watch "Hoarders" repeats. I haven't yet decided which to do. Lol.

I went to LV for Nye last year for the first time and had a penthouse suite at the mirage with a strip view. when it was 5 mins from the countdown I was ready to join my wife upstairs then hit a hand pay and had to wait to get paid.
I got upstairs to see the last two fireworks going off and my wife in bed asleep lol it would have been an amazing view if I had made it up in time.
I'd like to go back in a few years but I agree with Rob, even at mid 30's I felt quite old amongst the done up 30 something's :-P

They must be a little slow on New years reservations because I got a big oversized black envelope from Caesars this weekend. 5 nights--any property--except 3 nights Caesars. All the other stuff--dinner, show, $500 free play etc.

Again--at this point in time, I am only a low level Diamond unless they still look back at least 6 or 7 years. I only go to Vegas now if I am there for other reasons.

Really was surprised to get this offer.

I do agree that New Years in Vegas is not for me anymore. Did it for many years but it is too young and amateur hour at the craps tables now.

I never received the Vegas New Year's package. but did receive the information via e-mail. Last year we went to NOLA and had a great time. I am still waiting to hear from them. If they give the same deals they did last year that is where we are headed.

My friend has a similar story but it went like this: five minutes before midnight he hits a slot machine for ten thousand and the slot attendants didnt get to him for the hand pay until a minute after midnight. He spent the next half hour arguing with the floor people over whether or not the W2G should be dated in the old year or in the new year because they didn't get to do the handpay until after midnight. Obviously he wanted the W2G dated for the new year since he didn't have losses to offset the ten thousand dollar win in the old year. He lost the half hour argument. The tax form was dated in the old year and he missed the outside fireworks but had plenty of inside fireworks arguing with the staff.
