I'm interested in seeing how many members of the forum have been dealt a Royal Flush while playing video poker.

I seem to have more luck with Quad AAAA's hence my name.

In my five years of playing video poker a Royal Flush has never been dealt my way.

Who are the luckier players here?

    Quad AAAA's

Chance of a dealt royal is 1 in 649,739. That's why you've probably never been dealt one.

I have played millions of hands of Texas Holdem, yet I've only flopped a royal flush once -- and that was 10 years ago.

Twice. First time was on a 50 line game at five cents. Paid $10000.

Second at Rincon on $5 progressive paid about $36000.

5 times in the last 3 years. 2 at Harrahs LV, 1 at Caesars and 2 at Rincon.

    I've had two, both on 25c Single-Line
First was the SECOND day on the FIRST foray into "seriously" playing video poker (9/7 DB) in Clubs @ GoldDust West in Carson City.
Then about a year later, I got a dealt spade royal for $1000 @ John Ascuaga's Nugget in Reno, NV.
I'm hoping to get another one on Friday, playing $2 @ Rincon

As rare as dealt royals are-- I've seen a lot of them. At Rincon I've seen three dealt royals on the 25-cent DDB progressive in the last couple of years.

My son just sent me a photo of a dealt royal on a 25 cent game. He gave his girlfriend $20 to play. It was her first time playing. Photo coming.

It was her first time playing video poker ever? Oh no! Now she will be harmed by the belief that a royal is just behind the next hand if she plays a little bit more!

How are all of you getting so many dealt royals, given the odds being at nearly 1 in 650,000?

Dan I have had two myself, and witnessed several. What is more surprising is why haven't you had even one royal yet?

But in all seriousness, for a "rare event" they do seem to be coming fairly often.

Well, I have never been dealt a Royal, although I have had three by the draw this year. I hope to have a dealt one someday on a multi-play game.

I explained a while back I've had six dealt royals over a dozen years' play. Two in one week! Have had two re-draw royals (both in spades), yet only one straight flush redraw.

Also, a couple years ago my dad was dealt a royal in Vegas on a 25-cent Ultimate-X machine. 10 play with two 2x & a 3x multiplier. $14,000.

I was next to a man at Rincon in February this year and he was dealt a royal on $1 10-play. He took all 40k in cash.

Wow! I doubt those many Benjamins would even fit in my wallet. When I caught a dollar royal at Ceasars Palace this summer, I was irritated that they would not give me a check for less than a $5000 win. I was nervous about walking around with so much cash particularly since there was no secure safe deposit box in the casino I could use.

As promised here's the photo of my son's girlfriend -- with $20 of free play in the machine from the Great Gift Wrap Up -- hitting a $1,000 royal on the deal. Yes, her life is now officially ruined. First time player -- and hitting a royal with free play. This must be America.

You might have good reason to be worried, Alan. Rob Singer mentioned that the very first time he played VP he hit a royal as well. He even went as far as saying it ruined him for a long time.

Speaking of dealt royals, this reminds me of a night I spent at a Midwest casino in 2008.

I was playing blackjack next to a Caribbean Stud poker table. The game has a $1 side bet that pays a progressive jackpot for big 5-card stud hands. The royal had not been dealt for well over a year, maybe closer to two years. $250,000 jackpot (approximate). Young kid in his early 20's hits it while I happened to be there that night. He was so excited he almost broke the rule of laying the cards face down on the table until the dealer finished the hand. After the conclusion of the round he was screaming like a banshee running up and down the table aisles, unable to control the excitement. I've never experienced that before, so I'm sure I would have felt very excited about it, too! I think he ended up tipping the dealer $1,000 and gave $100 to each of the other players there that night.

That is almost the worst thing that could happen to a new player. JK

Alan did you take her to the craps table after that?

  19. #19
I wasn't there to take her to play craps. Hopefully she is still a craps virgin and she will hit the six ppint fire on her first turn as shooter.

Let me know when you take her. I would love to play while she shoots!
