Thread: CET not honoring Best Rate Guarantee

  1. #1
Caesars properties all have a "Best Rate Guarantee", which is commonplace among large chains which are striving to get customers booking directly through them, instead of third parties.

Here is how a typical Best Rate Guarantee works:

    - The hotel's website guarantees you can't find the same room any cheaper on the web

    - If you do find something cheaper, they will both match the price and give you something extra (sometimes an extra discount, sometimes a food credit, etc.)

    - Only publicly available deals qualify for this. So if you're getting special deals through your work, a travel club, or something else that isn't open to everyone without a membership, it doesn't qualify.

    - You need to immediately present them this rate. You have 4 hours to do so after booking your reservation with the Caesars site. So you can't find a lower rate months (or even a day) later, and then demand the extra discount.

Here are the exact terms of the Caesars Best Rate Guarantee: http://www.caesars.com/plusterms.html

If you find a better rate, they match it plus give you 10% more off.

Their terms are very standard for the industry.

But wait! Apparently they are DENYING people's Best Rate Guarantee requests for nonsensical reasons:

Basically two people submitted Best Rate Guarantee prices which fully met the terms, and Caesars denied them the better rate based upon bogus reasons. One of the two people was able to get "a deal" through a manager at Caesars (after a lot of fighting), but it was still inferior to the rate they should have gotten on the Best Rate Guarantee.

    Pretty bad, but not surprising.

Sounds like a good case for a class action lawyer.

Wonder what would happen if you called your credit card company and had the charges reversed. That usually costs the business quite a bit of extra fees from the credit card system.

I'd rather just book the lower rate that someone/some business/some site wants to give me up front. Reward competition and all.
