Thread: Your favourite restaurants

  1. #1
As all of you know there are hundreds of restaurants in Vegas. Is the fact that you have so many cuisines to choose from or reason for you to enjoy Vegas even more (besides the gambling, shows and everything else)?

What kinds of food do you like and what are your favourite restaurants? We for example like great Asian and Italian food. We can also appreciate a good steak now and then.

Here's a couple of restaurants we really like:
    1. The Bootleggers Bistro

    2. Gallagher's Steakhouse at New York New York

    3. The Noodle Shop at Mandalay Bay (great Asian food)

    4. Yard House (great food and a wide selection of beers)

There's a new Yard House located at the Linq Promenade
    5. The Peppermill (located between the Riviera and Encore)

Let the rest of us know what your favourite restaurants are and why. We're looking for a couple of suggestions for our next trip so we can give them a try.....

I liked the Yard House last time I was there.

Hit the end of happy hour. Had three tasty beers. The last was a dessert beer from Europe.

The waitress even had a beer recommendation for my wife and she liked it.

    Great street tacos.

Which Yard House restaurant did you visit? I'm kinda curious because we plan on giving the Yard House at the Linq promenade a try in a couple of months. We're wondering if we can expect the same quality as at the Yard House restaurant inside Red Rock Casino.

Yardhouse @ Linq has been added to our list. We still try to fit in a visit to old haunts like Ellis Island for ribs and to Batista's Hole in the Wall not only for good eats, but to have Gordy serenade our table with a romantic rendition of "Take Me Out To The Ball Game".

We've been to Ellis Island a couple of times for breakfast. Very reasonable priced (in other words just plane cheap) and really liked the quality of the food. Their meat lover skillet was very nice. Got some pics of the place and meals:

Talking about restaurants, if you follow the Vegas local news there's a topic that comes by almost every week called "Dirty Dining". It focusses on restaurants that got closed (temporarily) after the health inspection did their regular checks. You can actually have a look at the Southern Nevada Health District records and see what they have to say about hygene issues at Vegas restaurants. Here's a link to the page we have about this subject with a link to the health inspection reports. Might be useful to check these reports before you actually decide to try out something new.

Went to the new Cafe' Martorano's a few weekends ago. Opened at Paris in late October. There is still one at the Rio. OMG. I had veal marsala. I think I had the best meal of my life.

The decor is quite interesting. Big bar, glass cabinet displaying various sauces (he calls them gravy) and cookbooks, black and white tiled floor, music from the 70's and 80's and mob movies playing on the tv screens. Volume turned way up for the good parts.

Went home with a cookbook (a gift from a good friend we were dining with). Not just your average cookbook and more than just recipes. Interesting stories from the owner Steve Martorano and his life growing up in South Philly to his success in the restaurant business. Great pictures too. I've already made a few things. Here is a picture of the pizza I made yesterday. Will be going back there when we go to Vegas for New Years.
