Thread: Golf. What's it cost, what's free?

  1. #1
Suddenly I have found that a lot of my friends want to play golf in Vegas. I've never played golf in Vegas. In fact, the last time I played golf I did get a hole-in-one on the windmill and on the clown's nose on the 18th hole to win a free round.

When I was in high school I played some Par-3 golf, and as recently as ten years ago (yeah, at my age ten years ago is recent) I hit a bucket of balls at a local driving range.

But now, my son has bought clubs because his girlfriend plays, and Gwen plays, and others play, and I am being drafted.

I called Caesars and found out that with my 7 Stars I get two rounds for two people at both of the Caesars courses -- Cascata and Rio Seco. They even rent clubs.

7 Stars also get a 25% discount for up to 3 others.

What do the other casinos offer?

By the way, even with a price tag of $300, it can be a lot cheaper to play golf than to play video poker or craps.

    Don't rent!
Go get you some decent clubs fitted at a local course (or pro shop, if separate)
Spend around $300-$500 on a set of beginner clubs and go start whacking.
    I bought a set from Big5 (Alien's) for $100, and went out and shot a 100 on a regular course (99, actually)

Let me ask a stupid question: for a beginner (or for someone who hasn't played on a grown-up course in 40 years) what's the difference between a $100 set at Big5 or a $200 set on Amazon or a $500 set at a pro shop?
