Thread: Mystery gifts in the mail

  1. #1
About once a year -- or sometimes once in six months -- I get a mysterious gift in the mail, or from FedEx or UPS.

One arrived in mid January. It was a desk clock by Fendi.

There was no card in the box, or any indication who it came from. It was shipped by some "shipping service" and there was no account number that would let me find out who might have sent it. In fact, even the name of the shipping service was abbreviated to be a few initials.

I am guessing that I am on some mailing list for an annual gift, or a semi annual gift, and my guess is that it comes from a casino. But what casino?

Certainly not Caesars, and I don't play for real money online.

It could come from some other business not related to casinos.

It's strange that there is no card or greeting or message.

If you are reading this and you are responsible, please let me know.

If you have received similar gifts and you know what casino they come from, please clue me in.

While the clock is ticking, it't not a bomb. In fact, adding to the mystery, this package was sitting in the mail room since mid January and by accident it was given to me when I went to the mail room to pick up another package from UPS.

It's a Fendi 900 C desk top clock and comes in a Fendi box with warranty card and instructions and it was shipped in a Fendi shopping bag. If Fendi sent it to me as some sort of promotion I would think they'd include some sort of message or card with it.

I received the same clock in December. No card or anything.

I didn't get a clock or any mystery gift but yesterday in the mail I did get a notice of commencement of chapter 11 bankruptcy and meetings of creditors.
Strange it was in my old name, not Nash.

Can we narrow this down to an unannounced Caesars perk?

    Hi Alan:

I hate to tell you this but in Chinese culture one only would send a clock to an enemy. It essentially states that your time on this earth is limited. Not too far away from a Sicilian sending you a dead fish.

FAB yes, I know that. Recently Rincon gave watches as gifts to its players. I wonder if that signified the end of hundreds of players going to Rincon because they cut free play and pay tables again? :-)

    Hi Alan,

If you received it through FedEx or UPS then the package should have a tracking number. You should be able to call their customer service number, give them the tracking number and request more information about the sender.

Thanks North, but I didn't think to do that. The shipping box is gone.

There is one listed on eBay now with a starting bid of $9.95 and NO bids and the auction ends in two days.
