Those of us in Southern California who make the drive on the 15 Freeway to Vegas have noted the "Real Coins" billboard in front of the Gold Strike Casino in Jean, just north of the border of California and Nevada.

Well, the real coins part of the Gold Strike will be disappearing soon, and so will about half of its slot machines.

The Gold Strike sale has been approved, and the property on both sides of the 15 (remember Nevada landing was on the other side of the 15) will now be developed into a mega truck stop.

Gold Strike has been using slot machines that used coins only -- not tickets -- but the new owners will replace those machines with ticket in, ticket out modern machines. I hope they don't mess with the pay tables. Many of the games there have full pay video poker.
