Thread: Any Tips for Diamond in a Day Attempts in San Diego?

  1. #1
A friend of mine is traveling to San Diego next month. His host at Paris in LV, who had been with Harrahs/CET for decades, was recently fired, so he's at sea a bit.

Does anyone have any tips for Diamond in a Day type of promotions available in the San Diego area? Are there CET-affiliated casinos besides Rincon? Are there any Diamond in a Day promotions available anywhere in this great country? He travels a lot.

He's a little gun shy about giving CET his normal amount of play, as firing a 70-year-old host seems a bit harsh, and he doesn't know what this portends for CET. He is currently next to top tier at Borgatta, I think, and was top tier at Revel before it shut its doors.

Do Diamond in a Day promotions apply just to slots/vp, or can you do it with craps or blackjack? He plays mainly craps and blackjack.

Rincon is the only CET-related casino in Southern California. His best shot would be 8-5 Aces and Faces at $5 in the high limit room. The $2 8/5 Aces and Faces games have been downgraded to 7/5. There is also $1 8/5 Bonus on a couple of machines. But If I recall he needs to put on 5,000 tier points in a day to make Diamond in a Day with the bonus?? That's the $5 game. It won't happen at any table game, and slot play is too risky.

The problem with table play is that you have to bet too much and there is no way to know how many tier points you will be given for table play. That is a company secret. The formula has never been leaked. I dare anyone to define how many tier points they get per table game bet.

5000 points in a day gives you a 10,000 bonus aka diamond in a day.. if hes doing tables that would require very high bets for a long stretch...
it might be safer and less tedious to do 2 - 2500 point days which will each give him a 5000 point bonus.. or diamond in 2 days.. both are available at any US CET property.. so he could do one 2500 at Rincon and another in AC since that seems to be his home turf...

Thanks so much, Alan. I appreciate the info. I believe, in the past, he has pounded the craps tables for 7-8 days and then checked to see if he had made it. It is, as you say, a mystery. So that leads me to ask the question as to whether hosts enter into the equation at any point in determining what amount of table play gets what status. Can hosts shove certain table game players into statuses faster? Or are they in no way part of the process?

I doubt he'll go for the $5 vp game in the high limit room as he doesn't play much vp. He'll probably stick with craps. Sometimes he heads into our December get together in LV needing 12-15 hours at the tables to get there, and he'll put in the two or three shifts necessary.

Thanks again. I will discuss the $5 Aces and Faces with him.

Thanks, Justa, for the clarification regarding 2 - 2500 point days. That seems like a possible plan.
