Thread: Strategy For Max Comps When Spouse Also Gets Offers

  1. #1
This year I am approaching making Seven Stars. This is based on my action as well as my wife using my card. For your information, I tend to play video poker and my wife likes slots.

As you probably know CET only gives you a daily bonus when you earn up to 5,000 tier points in a day. So when I am with my wife and we want to play more after hitting 5,000 points, we switch to her card. To my surprise, I logged on her card on the Total Rewards website and found that she is Diamond this year at the level of 23,000 Tier Credits and she has some decent offers herself in Las Vegas as well as Rincon. Some of them are equivalent to the ones I am getting. This is the first time I remember her getting decent offers.

We plan to playing on my card to get to Seven Stars but are otherwise flexible. I am thinking about using her free play along with mine but am not sure we can do so if a room is in my name. Also I am worried about burning her offers out and assume that if we want to use her offers too, would have to put play on her card as well. I was wondering if anyone on this board had any experience or suggestions when both spouses had offers to maximum comps and longevity.

I like your basic strategy of putting the first 5,000 points on one card. I am now playing exclusively on someone else's card to get them to Seven Stars and I use my offers. I know this kills my daily theoretical but I don't care because the offers are so small losing them won't mean much.

    1) Immediately de-link anything between your two cards. Most notably, change the address of one of the cards to a different address (work address, your mom's address, whatever).

    2) You can only run her free play along with yours if it's a no-booking-required freeplay offer, or if you book a 2nd room that you won't be using, just to redeem the offer.

    3) Keep in mind that it's a balancing act with offers. If you ignore them, they will continue for awhile, but then will vanish completely. At the same time, if you overuse them without enough play, they will also vanish. You need to decide if you want to milk your wife's account for freeplay until it dries completely, or if you want to keep her account playing and generating continuous offers. You need to decide this based upon whether you will be playing anyway, and also based upon how quickly you need your account to get to Seven Stars.

On one hand you might want to keep both cards seen as playing regularly (in which case you can start redeeming her offers along with yours), but on the other hand, that will slow down your march to Seven Stars. Furthermore, if you get to Seven Stars and quit playing (switching to her card), YOUR offers will die down (though you will of course have the Seven Stars benefits guaranteed through March 2017).

    Hi Dan:

Why is so crucial to change addresses? We do not have relatives nearby. I could have mail sent to my work address but it would be embarrassing to have my secretary and employees see all the casino offers coming in to me since it is a small office. I could change my contacts to email only only but I expect that I would still be getting "Express Play" Coupons and other mailings.

I see that when I book rooms I could also insert a "companion" staying in the room. Could that be enough to allow the wife to use her offer if tied to a room? Also I am not sure I want to raise this with my host if this information will backfire.

I am 37,000 points away from Seven Stars this year so not too far away. There is no great urgency given it is only May. I would like to milk her offers as well if I could but it seems a tough balancing act to keep both accounts active and producing free play.

There is a fear that if you have the same address as your spouse with TR that offers will be restricted to one of you. I can't tell you if that's true or not.

You can send the mailers to the relatives far off, and just have them tell you if anything interesting comes. You can always get express comp coupons reprinted at the property.

The "companion" thing just gives you an upgraded room (sometimes), but will not allow you to use your wife's offers tied to a room. She will need to book a separate room.

It is a fact that you will get lesser offers as a married couple at the same address than you would as two totally separate people.
