Thread: Shame on Harrah's

  1. #1
I understand that the casinos are cutting back and cutting corners to save a dime here and a dime there, but this is just too much. Below is a photo of the pen that Jason discovered in his room at Harrah's on the Strip. He sent me the photo by email and asked me "if you found this pen in your room what would you do?"

    I answered: "Disgusting."

Hey... they can't leave a clean pen?

I would pay the extra charge for boogers with my RCs before requesting disgustionary comps.

I hope it then went directly into the trash. Sickening.

Knowing my son he wouldn't touch it. I am sure he called housekeeping to have it removed by a HazMat team.

Have Jason call up the front desk, ask for a manager, and demand some sort of comp for this.

If he's getting the room free, he should ask for a food comp.

He will probably get it. Tell him to say that he used the pen and now feels sick to his stomach over it.

I think this is good for a laugh and Jason thank you for showing us this, but where is it written that everything in every room has to be spot-on perfect? I'm betting he got over it the moment he sent his dad the picture, because he has more important things to tackle. To me it looks like somebody stuck the thing up their butt, so I'd just throw it and the wash towel I touched it with, behind the desk or in a drawer. Let the maids find it again. (And you guys actually leave these slugs tips?)

Update from Jason: the housekeeper came to his room to make it up. The pen was not removed but the housekeeper moved the pen. Notice the new position in the photo below.

Dan: your advice is good and I sent him a text message.

Rob: civilized people have a few minimum standards, one of which is we don't want THAT left for us to be used.

Jason called me to say he will stop by the front desk because he's afraid to touch the phone. He put the TV remote inside a hand towel to use the buttons.

Breaking news: Jason just texted me that housekeeping was outside his room when he returned. He had a housekeeper come in the room and remove it. But the photo lives forever on the world wide web, Harrah's.

Although I am thoroughly disgusted by the photos, and can barely stand to touch my ipad screen to swipe over them, I must ask, did Jason notice if the maid removed the pen with her bare hands? Besides the gross factor, if so, then anything touched afterwards has been contaminated. Same case with the re-positioning of the pen. Ugh......

I checked with corporate. That's the new design they are using. They feel it appeals to the younger generation.

If I recall, the housekeepers wear those plastic gloves. But the point is -- that only keeps their hands safe. They use the same gloved hands to touch everything else.

This is why for six months after my transplant surgery my doctor would not let me go to Vegas. I needed time for my antibodies to be restored.

By the way, did anyone notice the attached hair which was, it appears, stuck to the pen?
