I heard from a friend who is travelling this weekend with one of the hosts at Rincon that your free play is only going to stay in your bank for 72 hours instead of 30 days. So basically you won't be able to bank it and use it unless it's within 72 hours. I'm not sure when this is going into effect. He didn't say. Does anyone else know anything about this?

I haven't heard this but it doesn't surprise me. Rincon has been taking steps to cut down on "friends" claiming free play for friends. It's no secret that many regulars at Rincon have duplicate cards belonging to friends and relatives and they use those cards to claim free play on days when their friends can't be in the casino. That free play stays in the accounts.

The first bonus to be eliminated was the U Choose on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. For many players it was a free bonus. But now there is a minimum of play that is required that prevents "friends" from swiping someone else's card at the kiosk.

They've also moved some of the bonus kiosks to the Promotions desk where there can be a staff person checking IDs.

Now, by shortening the "bank time" to 72 hours they will prevent certain players from banking a month's worth of free play for use at one session. I will be impacted by this. I sometimes will drive by Rincon after visiting a client in the Temecula area, swipe my card for the promotion and save the free play for a future visit.

I have a friend who is a salesman working in the Temecula area who easily can swing by Rincon every day of the month to bank free play and this will put a crimp in his routine.

But the real question is who really gets hurt?

My weekly free play is about $80 now. Am I going to get hurt if Rincon prevents me from banking a couple of weeks of free play? Heck no. But what Rincon will accomplish is giving me less of an incentive to go there once or twice a month. Recently it was difficult for me to go to Rincon for $160 of free play (two week's worth) but now making it only possible to get $80 of free play (one week's worth) they will effectively kill off my business.

Oh fudge. I had been planning on downloading and saving this month. And I don't even have others swipe for me. I make the drive myself. At least I still do get the uchoose without having to play.

You can still download the Uchoose REWARD CREDITS and those stay with you for six months without any play. Then those can be used for dining, etc. or converted to free play.

A little bird just confirmed this for me: The 72 hour limit starts around June 10th.

It's been suggested to me that this will become uniform across CZR properties.

This makes sense. From the casino's point of view 72 hours is sufficient time for a player on a promotion to arrive at a casino and use their free play. It really only hurts those "advantage players" who try to milk the system.
Rincon is a test casino for the rest of the company.

But I am going to predict that Rincon will lose more than it will gain because by cancelling out a small amount of banked free play they will lose more business each month.

Here's a question to ask Total Rewards: does free play banked before June 10 stay valid for 30 days or does it also expire within 72 hours of June 10?

I confirmed with Total Rewards tonight: any free play banked before June 10 will remain on your account for 30 days.

So you drove down to rincon to play only your freeplay again? How'd ya do? Seems you only brag about your winnings? Alan, anymore interesting stories about how much restaurants are charging for side orders? "Riveting" knowledge you drop!

Kerry W. what makes you think I didn't make a phone call?

I spoke to a frequent Rincon player today (Kerry W it was via a phone call -- not at the casino, since you are keeping track) and he suggested that by keeping the free play more "honest" it might mean more and bigger free play offers in the future.

    His rationale was this:

If fewer players redeem their free play and use their free play, Rincon can increase the amount of the offers knowing that the redemption rate will be lower.

This actually makes sense -- and will make all Rincon players study their offers to decide which ones are best to take.
