Thread: Valley View Casino

  1. #1
I just walked thru Valley View Casino in San Diego County. I was very impressed with the no smoking casino area which is as big as the smoking casino. But the paytables on some video poker are lower in the no smoking area.

I found 8/5 Bonus Poker at $5 in the smoking area but it's 7/5 in non smoking.

EDITED TO ADD: Just got back from my day in San Diego and here are a couple of photos that I snapped inside the casino. The photo on top shows the video poker "section" in the high limit room and this video poker section actually runs against the wall. The high limit video poker includes $1 video poker, but at $1 the Bonus game is 7/5. You have to play $5 Bonus to get 8/5. And in the non smoking section there is $5 Bonus poker but it is a 7/5 paytable. So... non-smokers are penalized. I also found 9/6 Jacks or Better at various denominations including $1.

The other photo is just a general photo of the no-smoking casino. I am going to estimate that half of Valley View is non smoking and there are table games in non smoking.

Thanks Alan for your report. $1 9/6 Jacks or Better is a good enough reason for me to explore that casino one of these days.

I know you are not a buffet guy based on your opinion about Caesar's Bacchanal Buffet. Did you sign up for a players card and get a free buffet pass?

Just about everyone raves about that buffet.

There is a one time bonus for new sign ups. Since I didn't play I didn't sign up. I saved the bonus should I return and play.

I'm not likely to return for the same reason I don't play 9/6 Jacks at Pauma -- it doesn't help me when I go to Vegas for a real trip.

Wife and I visited VV twice...for their "new signup" promotion.
First trip, we went to get the Free Lobster Buffet...but since it was "Sold out" they gave us each $20 for the coffee shop..which was nice!
Then the next day, we went back, and got the free lobster buffet, which was ALSO nice! (Good as any Las Vegas Strip buffet!)
We saw they had 25c 8/5 BP on spin-poker...we played it a little and won $100...
So, all in all, we won $100 and had two great dinners on THEM...never set foot in the place since, lol.

They no longer give out free lobster buffet when you sign up. Hence, no more long lines. They give you cash ( not sure on the exact terms).

Glad you finally checked out VV! For local comps, there is no better. Although there players club is a bit of a mystery and they don't post number of points required to get to the next level. My partner and I only play once a month for 3-5 hours, have reached Silver Level which allows you to use the shorter buffet line, and usually receive 1 or 2 free buffet's a month each. Free play flux's. They also have better give a ways than Harrah's. If I get 2 free buffets one month, my partner and I will use my coupon for dinner, than he'll use his buffet coupon as a $20 credit for the bakery. We'll take home bagels, cookies, and cupcakes. We love the non-smoking section. That's interesting you point out the non-smoker section has lower pay Video Poker. I think if enough people complained, they would fix it. They fixed their no change given at redemption machines policy real quick when a ton of people revolted.

That being said, you're right in that it helps diddly squat in Vegas. However, for my level of play, I haven't found playing at Harrah's help much in Vegas either. Maybe a few reward dollars. In Vegas, we pretty much focus on mLife properties.
