Thread: 7 Star "best available room" upgrade

Back end comps? What are those? If you are talking about discretionary comps the reality is you've got to be a big player to get them.

The best available isn't a free ride.
Lisa, this only applies to players who could get that suite without the Seven Stars benefit.

For example, I am Seven Stars but I am considered "overcomped". If I ask for a suite, I will get turned down at most properties, even if a suite is sitting empty and unbooked at the moment.

So the "Best Available Room" upgrade for Seven Stars is basically a guarantee that, regardless of your recent play or comp status, you will get the best available non-suite room on property. So, going back to my example, I will always get an Augustus/Octavius room at Caesars if one is available, no matter how bad my current play situation looks.

Lisa is correct that a comped suite will eat off your AMT (average marketing theoretical), meaning that your ability to get discretionary comps will be reduced. This will also lead to you becoming "overcomped" faster. However, again, this has nothing to do with the Seven Stars benefit we are discussing.

    Not that big.

You just need to play a fair amount and not use comps in excess of what you have "earned" according to their formula.

Pretty sure that you qualify for discretionary comps, Alan, even though you use a lot of freeplay offers.

The way to properly look at Seven Stars benefits is to ask yourself, "If I don't play another penny during the time I have my Seven Stars status, what will I still qualify for?"

Seven Stars is a "guaranteed benefits" program, meaning that they will never turn you down for these benefits based upon lack of play or overcomped status.

These should not be confused with discretionary comps or upgrades/favors done for you by a host, which are much more based upon your ADT/AMT and current play.

Hosts actually hate the Seven Stars program because it requires them to do work for people who won't make them any commission. Under the old system, a host didn't need to lift a finger for someone whose recent play history didn't look good. Now the host is forced to book trips and in some cases book rooms for people who they know won't play a penny. Also, due to CET marketing Seven Stars as something special, players roll into town expecting the world at their feet because of their status, when in reality there are many thousands of Seven Stars, and most aren't considered "special" at all by CET.

I agree........not all 7 Star players are created equally. There are a LOT of players that earn 7 Star status from low playing many days at a local casino.
I consider myself to be a mid-level player. I play table games, so I earn very few reward credits. My room charges are fully comped on the back end. I usually stay in a jr suite in order to not burn up my comps. I don't normally care about the room. I want a clean room, a fridge, my personalized amenity and air conditioning that works. A view is a plus, but not the end of the world. On occasion I will upgrade to a larger suite if I have someone with me.
I'm sure Alan would have backend comps as well. The formula that I've always been told is 30% of Theo or 10% of actual losses.

If my back end comps are 10% of losses I'm not worth that much. Because I primarily play VP my tier score is inflated by bonuses. Anyone earning their 7 Stars with table games must be playing big because of the way tier points are figured for table players and that's why they are more likely going to get discretionary comps.

Those of us playing high return video poker like Bonus and Jacks or Better will earn 7 Stars at a lower cost but should expect less in upgrades and discretionaries.

What is all this stuff about back-end comps and host can & cannots? I was a diamond for 10 years up thru 2010 and not only did I never talk to a host--I had no idea who was assigned to me. Whenever I wanted free rooms I got them just about anywhere I wanted them, and I only & always booked online from my offers and by doing a bunch of what-ifs on the reservations portal. I was able, as a mere diamond, to take 3 one month round-the-country tours staying at every Harrahs in the country while always having comped rooms everywhere.

I was also a 7-Stars up until about a year ago for just one year, and I never used whatever comps that came with.

It's really easy folks, and all that play to get you to that special 7-Stars status really isn't worth it compared to what they give you--and what you can get on your own thru their site--at the diamond level.

Rob, even Diamonds can get free rooms, and high level Diamonds get some extra perks. 7 Stars doesn't really come with any comps except for the annual gift and the $500 celebration dinner plus those cruises that Ive never taken.

But then, you were never a devoted Total Rewards Player and you played multiple casino companies so with no allegience to Caesars properties why would you even expect anything extra from Caesars properties?

Gold, Platinum, and Diamond players get room offers based upon their play. They do NOT get any offers based upon their tier status.

Seven Stars always have 4-5 free nights guaranteed at all CET markets, regardless of play. That's actually one of the best values of Seven Stars, especially if you're an irregular player like me.

I got PLENTY of extras in the form of gifts, free play, airfare reimbursements, shows, cash etc. and for 10 years, and I could stay at any Harrahs in the US or Canada that I wanted multiple times a month. So that's just it--why go to 7-Stars for that puny little extra they give players in the form of annual trips & cruises just to be stuffed in with a bunch of other annoying players. I got WAY more than I expected, and it only took 1/10th the play required for 7-Stars. That's why I had a number of top tier or close to top tier cards at numerous casinos. "Overcomped" doesn't even BEGIN to describe it all.
