Thread: Full Table

  1. #1
    Hi all,

Got a trip to Vegas this week. Looking forward to it.

Question: if a table is full (bj or craps) and I want to play on it, what is the best way to get a spot. Just randomly stand there and hope someone doesn't butt in front of me.

Or is there a better way?

Why would I wait you ask? Maybe the table has the limits I want, or it is the only table of its type at the location. Maybe I like the dealers. Thanx.

    Roe.

Ask a dealer if there's an open spot.

This is really the best thing to do. Casinos want every spot used and it wouldn't surprise me if they asked players to make room for you.

But if the table is maxed out, they'll tell you.

Most important: don't try to enter a game "mid roll." Wait for the point to be resolved. Better yet, wait for the shooter to complete his hand. Often once a shooter sevens-out he will color up and leave -- and if it was a good roll others will leave too.

If the table is jammed it is likely a "hot roll" is going on. Unfortunately that doesn't mean the table will continue to be hot when you take your spot.

Why would you want to squeeze into a table full of people unless Madonna's sitting there guzzling cosmopolitans like they're going out of style?

I think Roe gave one excellent reason: table limits.

I've been to casinos where all the tables were $25 minimum except for one which was a $10 minimum.

I'll give you another example: at Red Rock in Summerlin not every table has the all-tall-small bet with a $5 minimum. Sometimes it's hard to find a spot at that table.
