Thread: Palms Humbles Themselves With A CET Assist

If you ask me, the only reason to play fast is because you have some ability to "see" the cards whizzing by on continuous shuffle machines and your fast play allows you to hit the card(s) you need.

As I said, I had it set on medium speed. Cards are dealt, hold what I need to, hit draw, move to next hand. Now if I were playing a game with some complicated strategy, then it'd be a lot slower. BP and JoB are just too easy.

I agree that BP and JOB are easier to play fast. But when I have a "big hand" to hold (say trip aces) I carefully check and double check that all three aces are held. Maybe it's because I'm old, but there have been times when my brain is faster than my fingers and I think a card is held when it really isn't.

    Nothing wrong with that.

With regards to the Palms, I've been there earlier this year and I feel it is an excellent place to play for gamblers on a low budget and seeking the most value. It is not for the ones who seek 7* members at Caesars Entertainment properties who seek the most luxurious accommodations. From the visit, I understand the reason that the place is highly regarded. They have Play for Prizes gift card offers for play over the weekdays as well as Play for Buffet where you can get admission for just 1/4 the value in player club points.

As far as the rate of play goes, most of the good video poker games (9/6 Jacks or Better and NSU Deuces) are on the older machines and the processing unit inside is probably slower. You have to play in a hurry and as fast as you possibly can to even get 600 hands per hour (most people will agree with my experiences), the game stalls after every 10 minutes or so.

At the high limit room, I found 8/5 Bonus Poker, 9/6 Double Double Bonus, Airport Deuces Wild, and 9/7 Double Bonus at $1, $2, $5, $10, $25 denominations. Those games are on the newer Game King machines so probably a player can play at a faster clip.

As for the offer mentioned in the original post, my goodness it is an offer that I can get only in my dreams. I did not know a locals oriented casino/resort would go that far to get prospective high roller players to play at the property. I essentially got no-mailed for my play on 9/6 Jacks or Better, I played well above my norm, 6000 hands during the trip and got into the All Star tier. I found out later that it turns out non Vegas locals do not get free play/food/hotel stay mailers. I only got slightly discounted hotel room rates which I do not care much about.

It is only me, but I would put in $100,000 coin in of play to build rapport for more future offers. I am certain that host will not have a job at that casino if only the offers are consumed without any additional play.

    I'm not understanding.

Are you saying Vegas locals get an advantage over non-locals as far as the Palms program goes?

This is true at Palms and many locals casinos.

Even Caesars Palace gives local players offers that the rest of us out of towners don't get, and the reason is locals don't get the free hotel rooms in these offers. It's more free play only.

That used to be true, but not anymore.

Only Rio gives better offers to locals, as it has been deemed the CET "locals" casino.

But that has been dialed down big time in recent years, as the "attract locals" campaign there failed (it never became what the Stations managed to do), and in fact has reversed somewhat.

Now sometimes out-of-staters get better offers than locals, because it is assumed that out-of-staters have to be enticed with something big, whereas locals will come down for even a small prize or amount of freeplay.

The big advantage to being a CET local in the past was that you would get "weekly freeplay offers" that wouldn't be given to people from out of the area.

I'm gonna shoot you down, buttfuck. I'm on my way to contacting the casino hosts at the Palms. I'm going to give them a link to this post, idiot.

I'm in the process of contacting the casino hosts at the Palms and giving them a link to this thread.

Never give Rob the Slob, Singer, er, Dinger any information about you. If he doesn't agree with your opinion on gambling he will use everything he knows about you to troll you. So don't ever give any personal information about yourself to him over the internet. I can't really believe that Slob gave me this gift from God. When he walks into the doors of the Palms he is going to see a bunch of people that know exactly what he is up to. Thanks, Slob. It's the first time ever I got to screw you.

I'm not going to suspend you because you gave me a good laugh. Why would Rob post this before he pulled it off? Will the offer be rescinded? Or was it a real offer in the first place?

    I wonder.

  14. #34
Killah, I love you, but you're a mite slow on the draw. If you read the first post here by Rob, and your reaction now wasn't your immediate reaction then, you need some serious coffee in the morning. I recommend Kona; Starbucks is too acidic.

Alan, you're dealing with mickeycrimm. He's banned more places than me, only it's for foul language and looking stupid using it. He's only in Montana because you need a workable vehicle to get around in civilization. Where he is he can hitch hike. In fact, I think I saw where he claimed to take trains, hike, and busses () to see his toothless mom in Alaska a little while back. Oh yeah, and he makes 6 figures a year playing keno.

Why you would question the offer I don't know. You post about yours before you use them all the time: that's why I thought it would be interesting to you. Not that big a deal. The way I'll be using it shouldn't be surprising anyway.

The offers I posted about were not special or individual deals. Rob you know about a big free play offer I received at one casino. I never posted the amount here nor how I used their offer.

Rob did you really get this offer?

  17. #37
And there's a difference between my offer and the ones you call "not special or individual" that you get? The only difference Alan is that you get a lot of them and tell us about them....while I've only received one.

I remember you told me the amount but I also believe you mentioned it here. Either way, the reason I posted this is because I thought you would think it was interesting. It wasn't tit-for-tat.

I haven't posted how I used the offer either. I said how I expected to use it. Does this mean you aren't interested in knowing?

    Is it real....was yours?

    See how dumb this is?

Rob I never told anyone but you the amount of the offer. I actually negotiated a higher amount when the host called me. I never mentioned anything here prior to going to the casino. But let's put that aside.

When you get an offer the casino expects you to play it AND MORE. You announced ahead of time your intentions for using the offer which to other players is a very smart method -- you're going to hit and run. Good for you.

But someone in marketing at that casino might now be having second thoughts about your offer. Good luck. I hope you get the offer and hit them hard and run with the money.

  19. #39
If someone at the Palms is having second thoughts then it will save me a trip. I'm assuming you think if they knew how I said I planned on "abusing" the offer they'd cancel it. My view is even if someone complained about me in advance they couldn't care less because they'd never discuss someone else, esp. with a person they do not personally know.

The Palms apparently wants to bring in more big players. They've obviously opened up a marketing budget for this program. I don't believe any amount of whining, personal attacks, or forum chatter will change that. If I'm wrong, then I'll stay home and watch the Patriots work their way into the next Super Bowl.

Fair enough, Rob. I hope you get the offer and I hope you hit them for a lot of cash and then tell us all about it.
