Thread: Caesars Buffet #1 in the USA

I understand that regnis, and very well. My point is with a buffet there is an enormous additional risk involved with all that food being right out there for all those people to contaminate. Most people don't give a crap if they sneeze without covering up or toss out a few coughs into the open air. Ever been on an airplane? And who in a buffet cares one bit if they have dirty hands when they handle those serving spoons, when any germ can be transferred to anyone who touches those things and then eats bread or crab or whatever with their bare hands?

I'll take my chances at Prime or Michaels.

Like cousin Eddy at the buffet in Vegas Vacation.

Rob Singer doesn't eat at buffets out of fear!?! C'mon, Rob, man up, baby!!!

Now I'm feeling macho, being a swashbuckling intrepid buffet adventurer. Let those hygiene-less buffet killers try to get me -- I'm like James Bond.

Seriously, though, not everybody lives by Rob's "fancy meals out -- all other meals at home" mantra. Many people aren't married and don't cook very much. We all live in a germ-laden soup. Rob, I take it you do not ever visit public restrooms (even in Prime or Michaels)? Much worse stuff in public restrooms than you'll find in a buffet. And forget those hand sanitizers -- they just evolve the germs to survive anything.

Cousin Eddy isn't really a stretch.

Hands can be washed in restrooms red. And even if they're not, the public isn't coming out and handling the same community serving spoons you are. That's reserved for the buffet crowd. Next time you're in one of your buffets, think of what I said when you grab a serving spoon and feel slime on it.

I don't disagree with you in general, Rob. I'm just pointing out that if you're in a restroom and someone having used that restroom has superbugs, you're breathing that in all the time. Washing your hands helps, but you'll have that stuff on your clothes and in your hair and so on. A friend of mine has CRE, MRSA, and another superbug. If that person is in your house, those bugs are part of your bio-environment. They're probably part of the environment of most public restrooms.

On the subject of casino restrooms, please see my page about the best casino public restrooms including the "touch free" restrooms. http://alanbestbuys.com/id223.html It makes no sense washing your hands if you touch the door to let yourself out.

I read the bathroom reviews. Hey, what's with the phones in all the hotel room bathrooms in Las Vegas? What lawsuit prompted that? I assume it is a building code. Reminds me of the commercial, "Help! I've fallen and I can't get up.."

Maybe it's because of all the food poisoning cases?

There's phones in hotel room bathrooms in hotels around the world. If you want trouble use one of them.

I haven't opened a restroom exit door without a paper towel in my hand or by using my elbows or knees in many years. Here's another tip: thoroughly clean the TV remote before using it. They have more germs on them than a toilet seat, and some people actually chew on the tip of them while watching a tense scene.

Rob you are absolutely correct about the TV remotes. I carry sanitizing wipes in my travel carry bag. And I miss the casino handiwipes when there were real coin slots.

I never travel without them or a bottle of sanitizer. And to think years ago I was one of those "remote nibblers". Might as well have licked the toilet seat.

We stay on average 4-6 nights a month at our local casino and NEVER leave home without sanitizing wipes. My wife likes to put those casino handiwipes over the buttons when she plays.

At Rincon once I saw an old Asian woman playing a penny slot wearing a surgical mask, surgical gloves, and with tissues in her hand for pushing the button. I don't know if she had a medical reason.

For six months following my transplants I wore a surgical mask. During that time I was not allowed to go to Vegas because of the air and smoke. But I was allowed to play poker here in L A because the card casinos are smoke free.

One day I take my seat at a tournament at The Bicycle Casino and there is a lady at the table in the seat next to me. I said hello and then simultaneously we both say "transplant." Turns out we had kidney transplants the same week at the same hospital.
