Thread: MGM Noir

The invitation for the top tier Noir at MGM comes when you reach TWO MILLION tier points. I think that makes it more exclusive than Seven Stars with Caesars.

Plus I like the name better; rather be noir than seven stars.

Two million is easy to reach in Vegas. Not so easy at the properties outside Vegas.

You'll have to explain this because I can play 2,000,000 points anywhere if I have the time and bankroll. Why does Vegas matter?

Read the mlife website. You earn faster in Vegas than Other locations. But I don't foresee you going to Louisiana, Michigan or any other state they're in anytime soon either. MGM Detroit earns at a rate of 1/10th the Vegas rate. 2,000,000 in Vegas is only 200,000 there.

JBJB, speculate for me if you would -- why do you think that's the way mlife is designed? Why did they make it easier in Las Vegas?

    Tourists is my guess.

    Wow, jbjb is right:

For slot play in Las Vegas M life casinos, you receive ten (10) Tier Credits for every Base Point earned. When playing at Beau Rivage or Gold Strike Tunica, you receive two (2) Tier Credits for every Base Point earned. At MGM Grand Detroit, you receive one (1) Tier Credit for every Base Point earned.

This looks like a lack of competition thing, though Caesars Windsor is right across from Detroit, and you get full TR earnings over there (though the games suck).

Also, Noir is invite-only. It's not just about tier credits. You have to have a high enough AMT that they invite you. A player like me would not get invited to Noir.

You get 10 tier credits for $10 wagered in Vegas at MGM properties.

You get 1 tier credit for $10 wagered at Caesars properties.

So you earn tier credits 10x as fast at MGM (in Vegas), though there are no "bonus tiers", so it's still way harder to get to 2 million tiers in MLife than it is to get to 150,000 tiers at Seven Stars.

Reports say that Windsor has full pay Pick em but it's $80(Canadian) per tier credit.

Alan, I do not see where 2M is the target for Noir. Did you find that out as part of a discussion with a host? I realize that Noir is invitation only, but so is Seven Stars technically. I wonder if MLIfe wants to limit Noir to its most valuable customers (e.g. High Limit Reel Slot players) as opposed to Video Poker players so MLife will just adjust the tier point threshold accordingly and maybe have a curve depending on whether you accumulated points on slots or not.

Alan, what are your thoughts on Aria instead of Bellagio?

  13. #13
When Alan says he can earn 2 million points outside LV he's right. The example of MGM in Detroit is unusual--and I can't think of any others--where a better rate is given in Nevada. But there's MANY casinos that have no connection with LV where 2 million points is no more difficult to earn than many places in Nevada.

Why would anyone want to play in a city like Detroit anyway?

  14. #14
No idea why anyone would. I sure wouldn't. Not as a regular anyway. I think the reason for the weak tier credit accumulation is it's more of a local place. No-one is vacationing There!!

Yes, I am sure that the 2-million point mark is news to all of you, just as it was news to me. Just as Seven Stars is supposed to be by "invitation" the fact is everyone gets an invitation unless they have a "problem" with the casino.

Noir is no different than Seven Stars. The only question was what point level will trigger the invitation. And the answer is TWO MILLION.

Yes, I made some phone calls and asked some questions. It's two million and the wrapping comes off the mysterious invitation. Make two million points and you will get the Noir invite. Also be sure you don't have a problem with the casino and your markers are paid, etc.

Unlike an appointment as a Congressional Page, or an appointment to West Point, there are no investigations of Noir players just as there are no investigations of Seven Stars players. Play enough and you get the invite. Money talks, that's all.

I can't tell you. I walked through Aria once, never ate in a restaurant there, and I played craps for about a half hour. I actually liked the bounce and feel of the table but that was my total experience.

When I was at Aria walking through I noticed that their 50-play machines had a $1-million prize if you are dealt a royal playing all fifty lines. Fifty lines at 25-cents would pay $50,000 so the million dollars would be a nice bonus for the 1/629,740 (I think) event.

I saw that also. Now imagine the EV on that one. Why aren't all the AP's hammering it to death?

Palms has an invitation-only card level called Legend. I had one for <2 years and there is no specific play level anyone could tell me for what it took to get there, but I can assure you it was nowhere near $2million because I would never play even 25% of that amount at any one property. The perks were a suite, admittance to any show or lounge while registered, plus automatic full RFB on every visit. They also by my request gave me the bowling suite on one stay. I should've invited arci at the time, although his turkeys wouldn't have been enough to beat me.

If this is for quarters ($62.50/spin), I'm gonna take a wild stab in the dark and say the paytables on that game are probably something like 7/5 JOB, 6/5 BP, 8/5 DDB, 9/5/4 DB....etc. If I did my math properly, it adds about 2.336% to the return.

What is the expected value on a fifty play VP with a million dollar dealt royal bonus? And for argument sake (since I don't remember) let's say it's 7/5 Bonus Poker @ $1 per coin.

I saw what RS__ posted. Thanks.
