Thread: Rincon cutting video poker pays again

  1. #1
I haven't been back to Rincon in quite a while and I am not going back but I am getting phone calls about what they are doing to hurt video poker players.

The latest phone call I got today is about how the last of the 8/5 Bonus video poker games have been altered to pay only one coin for two pair instead of two coins for two pair.

The player who called me said this is also on some of the high denomination machines as well as video poker starting at 25-cents.

I thought I would not see the day when Morongo has better video poker than Harrah's Southern California or any other local casino.

I was wondering what makes Harrah's Southern California worth going now. Yes, I am anti-T.R.

All I knew was Morongo had better 3 Card Poker, where a flush pays 4 for 1 instead of 3 for 1. The slots are much looser from what I can remember.

Photo of the pay table for the 8/5 Bonus machine at Rincon with 1 coin paid for two pair. Photo from a player who emailed it to me.

Now that I have the photo I can see that it is on the "new machines" that were added about a year ago. These newer machines all have funky pay tables. I don't know of any of the new machines that have anything close to full pay games.

That's 10/8/5 for FH FL STR. So it's not AS BAD as just 8/5 with 1-for-1 on 2 pair. But it is still worse than even 6/5 BP where 4oaks pay 80/40/25. About 2.6% worse.

Not sure about the 6/5 BP where all 4oaks pay 30. That one is definitely worse. Although the one where all 4oaks pay 35 is better than 80/40/25.

Of course that's (the 10/8/5 paying 94.6%?) with proper strategy, which can be pretty confusing on games with weird paytables, because of the straight paying 5 and the flush paying 8. The game is SO BAD, it wouldn't take long before you get to the point where you'd be almost guaranteed to never catch up to even.

Not completely true Alan,I'm here right now and there are some new machines that are set that way, but all older machines are still paying 2 for two pair. Bonus and aces faces.

Thanks for the update. I was just relaying the info, since I haven't been back there in quite a while and won't be returning. Would you mind giving us a report on what you find? Just how many 8/5 Bonus or 8/5 Aces and Faces machines remain there paying 2 coins for 2 pair? The last time I was there I think there were only 3 outside of the high limit room.

    Hi Alan:

I believe the "one coin for two pair" in Rincon's alleged "Bonus Poker" is in fact nothing new. Back in the beginning of summer I was momentarily fooled by the 8/5 fullhouse/flush paytable in a game labeled "Bonus Poker" there. Here is a photo below. This was at a dollar machine. I eventually circled around and found a few real "Bonus Poker" paytables.

    That's 10/8/5 BP NOT 8/5 BP.

You are correct. I am wrong. But my image seems to correlate with the image Alan inserted at the beginning of this thread as to "Bonus Poker" which is also 10/8/5.

I ran the pay table of that game in Winpoker and came up with a 94.18% pay back. YIKES! Makes double zero roulette look like a loose game.
