Who is Darryl McEwen? Does it really matter to those who will play during 2016?

For someone who crams 150,000 tier points in the first quarter of 2017 yes it will make a difference.

But I think cramming all that play into three months turns making 7 Stars into a chore instead of a fringe benefit from recreational play during the full year.

Not happy to read this, but not surprised.

I didn't understand why they gave you a full year "free" following the year you earned it, PLUS the 3 months at the beginning of the year.

I'm surprised they didn't kill it off entirely, making the expiration December 31, 2016.

We also might eventually see that extra year being removed, and turned into something like an extra 3-6 months instead. Total Rewards is unusual to where (up until these changes) your tier level could stay for up to 27 months without further play.

I'm assuming this will mean changes in the time allowed to use the benefits, namely the trip that includes airfare.
Currently, for 2015 Seven Stars earned in 2015, you have until 3/31/2016 to use the Seven Stars trip (I think $1200 airfare), and 6/30/2016 to use the Diamond Aspirations II trip (I think $750 airfare). These dates worked well for me for times that I have time to travel but tickets are higher.

It's not just the benefits that are changing.

The entire "Total Rewards Year" is shifting from April 1-March 31 to Feb 1-Jan 31. While it sucks to lose those two "free" months, there will likely be two good things about it:

    1) We will find out about Seven Stars benefits sooner than April 1. Right now people spend 3 months earning tier levels with unspecified beneits.

    2) If you want to book cruises that take place in the spring (or ones that sell out easily), now it's easier to do so. Before you had to wait until a few days after April 1 to book these.

Just got a little more information.

Supposedly the new Seven Stars year will begin on February 1, 2016, but those who didn't requalify for their current tier (via play in 2015) will be grandfathered in to keep their level until March 31, 2016.

Most importantly, the February 1, 2016 change will allow you to book things based upon the 2016 benefits (such as the cruise and annual trip) two months earlier than before (which used to require waiting until April 1).

I know that I will be jumping on this to book the cruise I want to take, before it fills up or gets blacked out.

Also, if you are booking your 2015 annual trip after February 1 (you have until June 30), be careful that the host doesn't get confused and accidentally book it as your 2016 trip.

I have been told by my host that there are more changes for 2016. I don't remember the details but it was something about converting the 7-stars trip and the Diamond Aspirations trip into either freeplay or a gift card or something like that. I don't know what the conversion rate will be but at least those who are not able to use the trips will be able to get some compensation for them. Good news.

This would really be a great option. If I am going to travel it's not going to be to a casino resort so freeplay would actually give me something and even a gift card to the Forum Shops (if that's what it is) would be welcome. Even a gift card to be used as a resort credit in Vegas would be wonderful.

I agree with Alan. This would be a great thing, even though I do use the trip every year.

I am running out of new CET locations to visit, so I would much rather just have the freeplay and be done with it.

I am a little surprised they are doing this, as the whole point of the trip is to get you out to a new casino where you'll like spend more time gambling than you would at your home casino (where it's easier for you to leave).

But maybe they discovered this wasn't working out as well, as up to $1200 was wasted on airfare (instead of going to the casino's coffers), and perhaps too many people were using it as a vacation rather than a gambling destination (like me).

Will be interesting to see the conversion rate.
