Thread: Happy new year everyone!

    Happy new year, everyone.

When I was in high school, I worked part time at a radio station in suburban New York City. It was WRKL. One day while I was doing an afternoon disc jockey shift playing adult, middle of the road songs (Sinatra, etc) I got a call from a listener. She was an older woman who said she liked the sound of my voice.

It was around Christmas and she called to wish me a happy holiday season. And then she told me her favorite quote:

"Dress British, think Yiddish, love Italian and have the luck of the Irish."

And she said to me, "you can use it on the radio."

That was in 1969. And every year since then whether it was on the radio or doing my business news segment on TV in New York or Miami or LA, at some point before New Year's Eve I would wish my audience for the new year that they have a happy new year and "dress British, think Yiddish, love Italian and have the luck of the Irish."

So to all of you: dress simple and smart (dress British), have a good sense of humor and roll with the punches (think Yiddish), have passion and romance as you enjoy life (love Italian), and hit a few royals in the casinos (luck of the Irish).

Happy New Year! Time for a NEW start. Will start my new year (since this IS a Las Vegas forum) with shorter casino visits and satisfaction with some lesser (who knows?) profits while planning to go when my wife and I can, at the same time, enjoy the freebies. Tall order to change one's routine! Plan to keep a weekly record as Alan suggested. More important, since retirement, I want to improve our health lifestyle. Best of luck to all!
