Thread: Misleading email from Harrah's Rincon

Harrah's Rincon is not my favorite casino -- and I think you all know that by now.

Today I received an email which contains some misleading information about a $500 dining offer.

    The email says, exactly:

    NOW - MARCH 31, 2016

As a thank you for your Total RewardsŪ Seven StarsŪ membership, let us take you out to dinner! Come on in, you have $500 to spend at any of our eight restaurants if you haven't already used your bonus!

No offer code or coupon is needed, just stop by the Total Rewards Center with your card and ID and we'll print your voucher. Your offer expires March 31, 2016 so don't wait too long. We hope to see you soon!

At first I thought this was some special dining offer for being a Seven Stars. But after a few seconds I realized this was nothing more than an "invitation" to use my Seven Stars annual dinner at their property instead of using it at another property such as Caesars Palace or Paris where some of my favorite restaurants are.

What tipped me off to the "trick" was the line "if you haven't already used your bonus."

The email would not have been misleading if they simply said something like "you haven't used your Seven Stars annual dinner yet, so why not use it with us?"

By the way, over the New Year's weekend I used $300 of my $500 credit on dinner at the Old Homestead Steakhouse at Caesars and Fiore at Rincon doesn't come close to the quality at Old Homestead. I still have $200 remaining (two $100 certificates) which I can use before expiration on March 31st and I am sure I will be back in Vegas before then to use them.

    I got the same BS.

And I had the same reaction as you.

    Very sneaky.

Rincon realized that they could lay claim to the Seven Stars offer and get big gamblers down to their property -- especially ones who didn't realize they had that Seven Stars $500 dinner.

I think that the Rincon also gets reimbursed by the home property of the Seven Stars player. At least that's how it works regarding the $500 folio credit on the Seven Stars Annual Trip.
