Thread: Is there a "superstition" you believe in? Or follow?

  1. #1
Superstitions come from ignorance, they're not logical, they're irrational and we all are susceptible to them, aren't we?

Well, if you play in a casino you're likely to have a couple of superstitions that you follow.

Perhaps you don't want another player joining your blackjack table?

Perhaps you think the shooter will seven-out after he throws a die off the table?

Perhaps you will bet a horn after a shooter throws a horn number in craps?

Perhaps you won't play a slot machine or a video poker machine that shows a big cash-out on the pay meter?

Perhaps at craps you think if a shooter throws a lot of 7's on the come-out that he is getting the sevens "out of the way" for a long run of numbers?

Here are two of my favorites:

    1. When a shooter is having a good role and starts cracking jokes with the dealers a seven-out is coming.

    2. When a shooter stops to order a drink, a seven-out is coming.

So what superstition... what irrational belief, or ignorant idea... do you keep in mind or bothers you when you play?

If you have no superstitions, please move on.

    1. If at all possible, I play on the end machine of the row its in.
    2. A small, lightweight chain with an emblem of my university is attached to my players card. The emblem has to be face up or face out (depending on how the chain hangs) when I play.
    3. As a strictly VP player, I will move if the adjacent machine has: a smoker at it, the player is a loud key slapper, or there is someone "coaching" the player on what to do.
