Thread: Limits on dealer bets?

  1. #1
Are there casinos with particular rules or limits on dealer bets?

When Caesars Palace had the Fire Bet on craps, bets for the dealer on the Fire Bet were limited to a maximum of $5. This means if six players wanted to bet $1 each for the Fire Bet for the dealers the maximum that was allowed was $5. And the extra dollar? The dealers would place it as a hardway, or a passline bet or return it to the player with an apology that they couldn't accept it.

At Bellagio I asked if there were limits on dealer bets for the Small, Tall, All bets at craps and I was told there was no limit.

Any info on other games and other casinos?

I thought it unusual that Caesars limited the Fire Bets for the dealers, and when it first happened dealers openly complained and discussed it at the table. I can't understand why the casino would limit dealer bets.

Most casinos have a limit on dealer's bets.

When I am at a craps table with a fire bet, I usually make a five dollar fire bet, and add a buck for the dealers. I was at Rincon (same weekend when Dan hit so many royal flushes) and I noticed that after the dealers received a cumulative $5 in fire bets, the crew simply dropped the extra money (including my buck) in the tip box. This practice disappointed me as I was putting money on the fire bet to have my dealers ride along. If I just wanted to tip a buck by way of hand-in, I would have done so. The table was pretty full and I believe everyone had some money on the fire bet. Immediately after I noticed this, the shooter went on a tear. Hitting point after point. The only break was when his nose started bleeding and a Kleenex was not enough. After he hit four unique points, he disappeared to the men's room -- not that anyone complained since he was hot and no one wanted to shift the dice to anyone else. It was odd, however, to have no action for about 3-5 minutes other than an occasional player pressing or adding a new bet during the "intermission." Happily no bio-hazard was announced and the table was not closed for a scrubbing.

When he came back after fixing his plumbing he set a unique point, hit the fifth fire bet point and the table roared. The dealers who had $5 on the fire bet broke out in big grins. The shooter never was on the sixth point or I would have considered laying that number.

When the shooting was over, in addition to the money I won on the regular game, I was slipped $1250. I also saw a pile of quarter chips for the dealers and with a flourish they were slipped into the dealers toke box. If the dealers were allowed to have more than $5 in fire bets, they would have had an additional $750 in that toke box.

Sounds like that a fun time to be at that table.
