Thread: Are you loyal to a particular Las Vegas Hotel/Casino or do you stay at different properties?

  1. #1
On my last trip to Las Vegas I managed to play enough at several different properties to get on their mailing lists for some free rooms, food and free slot play in varying amounts.

Anyone stay at any of the following hotels?

    Cosmopolitan
    Hard Rock
    Downtown Grand
    SLS
    Golden Nugget
    Venetian
    Palms
    Westgate
    Wynn
    Orleans

Hopefully the offers will keep coming because I normally come out to play a few of the tournaments during the World Series of Poker each summer and extra rooms are always a plus since I'm usually in town for about 7 to 10 days.

Years back I was loyal to Caesars and MGM. Now, because I just need the free room now and then, I pretty much stick to Caesars as a barely Diamond.

I have stayed at Wynn and Westgate, both of which I liked, Venetian which I really liked, and Orleans which I hate.

Wynn and Venetian obviously are first rate and classy with numerous expensive restaurants. Not really my thing but easy to like if it's free. I always liked Westgate for the sportsbook but I don't like the location as I like to walk the strip. Orleans is just a dirty, smoky pit and a lot of classless patrons. VP didn't seem too bad if that's your thing.

I don't play enough to spread around my play. I need to concentrate my play with only one or two companies so right now I'm limited to Caesars and Bellagio. If I played more I'd explore adding other casinos.

But you're looking to get full RFB when you stay at Caesars and Bellagio aren't you? I am leagues below your play. (As I'm sure most people are! )

I found running $500 to $1000 through the machines and playing some blackjack at $25 to $75 a hand for an hour was enough to generate some pretty good offers.

Pretty loyal to Bellagio, Aria, or Mandalay Bay/Delano, depending on the best MLife offer. Have stayed at the Cosmo, real cool/funky suites with a sunken, separate sitting area and a balcony.

Not loyal to any of them.

I'm not familiar with the Westgate, SLS (heard of it) or this "Downtown Grand". But I've stayed at all the rest--I've checked into a few of them at least a hundred times regardless if I stayed there. Venetian has always been my favorite. It was especially enjoyable when they gave a vp player like me full RFB because they had IMO the best selection of restaurants in the city. They eventually cut my offers of everything but the rooms off because of continuous winning.

Unless you are getting RFB why are you bothering to play "for offers"? You can get discounted rooms anywhere in Vegas. And whatever "offers" they are giving you are going to be worth less than whatever the cost is of what you're playing.

I simply did the tourist thing, visited some of the casinos I had never been to (SLS, Downtown Grand, Hard Rock, Cosmopolitan) and gambled a bit. If it generated offers, great. If it didn't, so what? I was going to play anyways.

Isn't gambling enough to get RFB exponentially more expensive than just paying for everything yourself?

Absolutely. Which is why I don't play for offers. But I found that if I concentrate my play at one or two properties I will get the best possible offers.

I was very happy with Caesars until a few months ago. And a big free play offer from Bellagio made me try them out. Now I found that Bellagio which has craps that I prefer over Caesars craps pit is offering me more than Caesars offers for the same play.

The idea of playing at different casinos just to generate offers makes no sense to me. But if you play somewhere and then get offers as a result of your play then take them if they're worthwhile. But to play somewhere with the idea of earning offers is ridiculous.

In another thread you mentioned your son Jason getting a good offer from Wynn after playing a small amount. That's all I meant.

I'm no high roller, and if some limited play spread around at a few places will trigger some free rooms/slot play/show tickets that's all I'm looking for.

Jason had gone to Wynn to see some show nearby and merely played some VP. He got the offer by surprise. Never expected it. He didn't play to get the offer.

The point is offers never exceed the value of your play. Wynn probably thought that his limited play indicated he would play more in the future. He won't.

My auto spell on my phone writes we're for were. There are other typos that I sometimes don't catch.

If you get a new card and play a fair amount on a single day, it can VERY MUCH be worth doing, because this will often generate some nice offers which will dwarf what you lost (even if you got pretty unlucky).

So it's not a bad idea to get a new card in each place and take a "tour" of various casinos, and see what offers you get.

I mentioned this once before, and when John and I drove up to Caesars on Friday it came up in conversation again.

There has been talk that the Caesars computer system tries to identify potential high rollers by looking for players who might come into the casino and play one or two hands at a high denomination machine -- and don't have any other additional play.

The theory is, this high roller came into the casino to meet someone or to look around, or perhaps came for a show or dinner, played a hand or two at $100 slots, and stopped.

These "short play high rollers" are then offered big incentives to return.

Of course this person needs a players card.

I've never confirmed this but it has been mentioned in various web reports, and I think it's interesting.

My host from Paris just called and said " I see you're coming out but staying elsewhere" I replied I'm done with your company. He asked why, my answer was simple. For the past 7 years I've been a loyal seven stars player, year after year my benefits, perks have gone down. No more quarterly gift cards, no more appreciation gift.
Diamond players get just as many perks now as a seven star.
He said sorry to hear that we then hung up.

I feel like a free man again, my dominant property will be Wynn in Vegas. Winstar in Oklahoma, Hard Rock Tampa, Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Ameristar in St Louis, Hollywood Casinos

I'm glad you said that to your host Lonestar. If enough players like you bail on Caesars then maybe Caesars will wise up and loosen up for those that remain.
