Thread: Are video poker machines really random

  1. #1
I know that most of us believe that video poker machines are truly random and the result comes from the random number generator. But let's take a look at video poker progressives. If the machines were really random, why doesn't the royal flush progressive jackpot hits more often. Example, an average of 40000 hands on JOB has to be played to hit the RF, so if there are 6 machines for that progressive and all six machines are banged on for hours on end, why don't we see RF more often? Here in Ballys there is a row of bonus poker 3 level RF progressives. For the top most progressive, u have to have a dealt RF to win it. The top most progressive starts at 4000 and always gets hit by the time the amount hits 11000, like a clock. What is going on here? I thought one gets a dealt royal flush ones every 250000 hands. Maybe progressive video poker aren't that random, maybe the jackpot hits when the RF amount reaches a certain level.

A dealt royal is 1 in 649,740. Don't forget, usually/approximately only 1¢ goes into the progressive meters per bet.

Are you talking about the triple play BP machines at Bally's in AC? If you are referring to Bally's in Vegas I am not aware of where those machines are. But we have not been there since August. If you are referring to the Bally's at AC, I had heard that the BP that the pay tables there have been downgraded from 8/5 to 7/5. If so is that the case?
