Thread: The MeBar coming in May at Morongo

  1. #1
Another odd development at Morongo, it seems like the casino management is tapping into the social media market and targeting the social booze/cocktail drinkers aside from the gamblers. Seems like they understand the direction Vegas is taking, the newer generation are not much of a gambler.

It is being constructed near the food court. The cramped Arcade for the youngsters and the room for the Morongo Rewards kiosks and the change machine are being displaced in favor of this. The kids are playing games on iPad mini tablets anyways while their parents are out gambling so there is not much need for it (Arcade generation died out in the late 1990s).

I don't undertand??? It looks like a bar with slot machines and TVs. What am I missing?

    20 or 30 years? Sorry couldn't resist.

The kids in their 20's don't want to gamble. iPhones and video games are better and cheaper. However they like good drinks and a place to hang out with other kidless friends.

The gaming industry is going to have to play a long game with them until the milienaials have money and discover table games (but not 6:5 BJ).

Still don't understand. Morongo allows 18 year olds to gamble but must be 21 to drink.

True story, I was in Vegas a few weeks ago staying off-strip . I ordered Uber to get to Fremont St. Driver was very personable from the start. He asks why I wasn't staying on the strip. I told him the trip was comped because of a trip I receive having top tier in a certain slot club. He asks if I have ever or would ever consider staying in a CET property. I said sure, I had stayed at Flamingo and Bally's before and would consider it again, but I wouldn't gamble there . He asks why and I tell him that CET is notorious for having horrible VP play everywhere/anywhere in the universe. He then tells me he is a casino sales exec for CET and gives me his business card. I was kinda laughing inside with this revelation, but the conversation continued on. He said that there is no money in gambling, I responded that's for sure if you keep turning the juice down on everything. He then said that all the money now is in the clubs. They had their most successful Spring Break ever. He also says the kids love to spend a grand on bottle service. That's right, a grand for a bottle of booze in a booth. I said I couldn't believe kids can get a grand for a bottle for just one nights entertainment. He said they don't care where or how they get it, because its happening, and it only costs the casino 50-80 bucks for the bottle they are selling them. He told me to email him and he would try to take care of me when I plan my next trip. I did use the email. I have not stayed at a CET property in years, nor have I tried to access my account . He helped reset my password. The guy was legit. Whatcha guys/gals think ? This guy a marketing genius or they desperate ? I think a bit of both.

First post, been reading a few years, I'll keep my head down for sure.

Hi daily_double. I just think it's a shame that a "casino sales exec for CET" is driving for Uber.

However, I am not sure what the title "casino sales exec" means?

  7. #7
Is that another title for (unsuccessful)casino host?

Yeah the clubs are huge money for Vegas now. Not my thing. I wonder if that will last or if it is generational. They just to keep building bigger clubs. Bit of and arms race, but with 20 year olds willing to drop $20-$1000 a drink...

On my last trip to Vegas a week ago, I stopped in the hosts office to say hello and there was a young guy in there asking a host for "help" with his bill. They were talking about a $585 bar tab. The conversation went something like this:

    Kid: How much?
    Host: $585.
Kid: Really, it was how much?
    Host: $585
    Kid: I didn't know. So...
    Host: It was 585.

    Hi Alan:

Did you happen to overhear whether the kid had any gambling action to justify any charge off? Was he so ignorant of how Vegas comps works that he was just hoping for a discount for asking?

Thanks guys for a discussion revolving the current state of the industry! Rare to see any in the California Casinos thread.

It is indeed a bar with bartops and television screens, but I personally think there is already more than enough bars on property. It goes to show that there is demand for alcoholic and tobacco/vape (18+) to cater towards the younger crowds. It seems the casino in general wants a larger volume of small budget players, and this is going with their trend. I do not get the social media theme/aspect of this bar, it has Instagram/Facebook/Twitter logos all over it. Right next door is the High Limit Table Game room with a bar inside. It looks to have more expensive booze, but the gambler stereotype (elder folks from the Far East) does not seem into those type of drinks.

During football season, Morongo has become a hangout for the crowds to enjoy the game.

There is always a change at the casino year after year. It will be interesting to see how this pans out.

Welcome daily_double, not sure if you are the same one from the videopoker dot com forums. There is also a strong anti-Dancer presence here. It is a good place for the Total Rewards players, I admit I am anti-TR so I do not spend much time here.

No idea. But it appeared from his facial expressions that he couldn't pay the tab.

The kid probably did not have a lot to drink to his standards but was unpleasantly surprised at the bill. To ask for that much comp'ed, he'd have to gamble many folds that to a point where the cost is a drop in the bucket.

The kid does not belong in an upscale high end place like Caesars Palace to begin with, but the doors are open to anyone (Bellagio used to prevent entry to folks that did not look to be appropriately financed). Hell I do not belong there either, I just went to try the buffet once which was as good as advertised.

    I prefer to stay local.
