Thread: Buying Caesars websites

  1. #1
If you go to www.CaesarsCasino.com you will go to the Caesars-owned website for online gaming in New Jersey.

If you go to www.CaesarsCasino.vegas (vegas is the new domain that recently started) you will go to www.alanbestbuys.com.

    Yes, i just bought www.CaesarsCasino.vegas.

I would watch out. They could sue you for cybersquatting.

Pretty cool. Alan. That will be interesting, for sure.

Maybe CET will make you an offer you can't refuse.

I'm not cybersquatting. I'm using it for a website about Caesars casino. Take a look. CaesarsPalace.vegas was not available, by the way.

    Sure sign of Caesars addiction.

I don't think, given the content, that CET could have any real argument with you regarding your site.

I wish I had some photos from back in the day when the sports book had these enormous helmet chairs reserved for their bigger bettors. I remember one dude lifting his chair over his head and threatening to bash somebody -- this was actually quite a feat of strength.

In the late 80's and early 90's, Caesars was one of the places to be for sports betting, along with the venerable Stardust. They took larger wagers then than they do today, even without an inflation adjustment.

Caesars did a good job of buying a lot of the dot-vegas URLs. They didn't buy the one I got and there are a lot of other URLs that include variations of Caesars that weren't purchased.

I'm not asking Caesars for any money. I just think it's a great address for having a separate website just about Caesars Palace.

I don't think Caesars ever went after "Seven Stars Insider" and I started using Best Buys long before the retailer started its business.

Interesting that you mention the larger wagers of the past. The old time craps dealers at Caesars (a few are left) sometimes talk about how the minimum bet at craps was $100.

When I first arrived in LV, the places taking the largest wagers were the Mirage, Caesars Palace, the Stardust, Binion's, and a place called Little Caesar's in a strip mall next to Bally's, not in any particular order. There was a time when, prior to the Mirage opening, Binion's actually had the largest sports betting volume. Hard to believe, but true.

Redietz--you bring back fond memories of Little Caesar's, the Santa Anita Race Book, and Mr. Sy's. My buddy was a teller in the Sports book at Stardust when they opened it. great stories he tells.

Oh geez, regnis, those are beautiful shots. There is the Santa Anita book. That is cool. Leroy's and Churchill were downtown, correct?

I wish I had an eidetic memory and I could just see those days in my mind's eye, but it's all a blur. That Little Caesar's book -- I remember people coming in with brown paper bags full of money. It had Ivy League football lines (a rarity then, unavailable today). The guy who owned it (I don't recall his name) parked something named a Rocket Car in front of the place in a regular parking place.

Binion's had higher bet volume than anyone because, well, because all of the illegal urban bookmakers around the country had a guy staying at Binion's during the football season to lay off the action when needed.

Great days -- you had to have your head on straight or you'd get it taken off -- which was actually a good thing.

Churchill downs was actually right where the eiffel tower is today. I don't remember where Leroys was.

Leroy's was downtown, a block south and east of the Plaza, on a side street. There was another downtown race book I had confused with Churchill, but I don't remember the name of it -- it was about a block from Leroy's, I think. I will ask around.

How about those free meals advertised on the signage at Mr. Sy's!!!

We used to go there for shrimp cocktail. I still have a fun book from Sy's buried in a drawer somewhere.

I miss the cheap food, regnis. God, I miss the cheap food.

My first meal in Las Vegas was a $3 steak at Binion's. Classy coffee shop and a $3 steak -- can't make a better first impression.

I remember in 1971 having a steak dinner at Walter White's Steakhouse in Syracuse for $6.95. It was a white tablecloth restaurant, with waiters dressed in waist jackets.

So what was the deal with the $3 steak at Binion's?

It had to be 1981 or 82 when I first visited LV. I had read about the Binion's steak deal in the Las Vegas Advisor. I expected a dive and a tough-as-nails steak. Instead, the coffee shop was classic and New York-ish, more like a decent restaurant than a coffee shop. The steak came with salad and potatoes and another side and was three dollars for the whole deal, and everything was good.

I think breakfast was a buck and a half, including some monster side of ham.
