Thread: Match play instead of free gaming chip

  1. #1
I remember when casinos gave you a free $5 betting chip when you took a gaming lesson. Now Cromwell gives a $5 match play voucher when you take a lesson.

Free bets are definitely better than match plays.

Speaking of free bets, what is the best game/place for the free bet? Obviously they won't allow you to place on the bonus type bets, odds. They have only allowed me to place it on the PL,DP, or field in craps, regular bet in BJ/baccarat/roulette (can't place a number).

Good link. thanks. I get promo chips. I normally use them on the field because there is an outside chance to hit a 2/12 to double up without risking my own money. The article has BJ as the top choice.

I can't speak about other casinos or companies but Caesars Palace actually has TWO types of free play for TABLE games.

The most common form of free play is the voucher which has stated rules that it can only be used on "even money" bets and the field in craps.

The second form of free play is the actual "live promo chip" which can be used just like any other gaming chip so it can be used for odds or for betting place numbers in craps, or horn bets, or whatever. I haven't seen a "live promo chip" at Caesars used in a while. But a couple of years ago I had a problem with an offer and because the offer was not available (when they told me it was) I was given live promo chips as compensation. I used them at craps. They were $100 promo chips and I used them as "odds" at craps.

The promo chips that I have is similar to a free bet and is limited.

Most of these things are limited to even money bets at most places that I've seen. Both types (free bet and promo) are discussed in the link.

Years ago, before the vouchers, Caesars only had promo chips which could be used for any bet. One time, my offer was for a single $500 promo chip. When I got the chip at the cage I noticed it had a serial number of 1/200. Before I bet it, I made some phone calls to determine if it was worth more selling it on ebay or to a chip collector than betting it. Everyone told me to bet it, so I did.

I used it as odds with a $100 flat bet. The point was 6. The shooter went on to have a roll that went something like this: 5, 5, 9, 9, 5, 9, 5, 9 and then 7 out.
