Thread: Caesars ends participation with Shell Fuel Rewards Network

Another penny pinching move... and literally it was pennies for most players. Caesars announced today it is ending participation in the Shell Fuel Rewards Network at the end of this month.

Yes this wasn't much but yet another thing that is being penny pinched away.
I wonder if this will also mean an end to Shell being the gas card in TR casino giveaways.

I read further on your link above - lots of interesting info there. I was surprised to read under Seven Stars Companion benefits that they may or may not get comped tobacco at places that offer it to Seven Stars. Is this from the people - usually ladies - that come around at Caesars? I never heard of this one before...

At Caesars Palace they will not comp tobacco to holders of Companion Cards. They want the actual 7 Stars card holder to show their card. It might be different at other casinos.

At Rincon, 7 Stars get free buffets, but Companion Card holders have to pay.

Ok Companion Card holders can't get comped tobacco at Caesars Palace but Seven Stars holders can? I've never seen mention of this benefit before. Is this from the people that come around or what?

When I play craps or play video poker at Caesars I show my card to the cigarette lady and it's always comped. I don't smoke but I've gotten cigs for my daughter and dates that way. (The dates don't last long, however.)

It was a terrible promotion anyway. The only Shell stations that participated in my area already charged 20 to 30 cents more per gallon.

Doesn't Shell have a deal with Ralphs Groceries, so there are literally no Total Rewards Fuel Rewards locations in the greater San Diego area (for the forum members from SD)?

Yes. Shell has the Ralphs promotion. I found only three Shell stations near me with the Fuel Rewards Network discounts. Nearly all gave the Ralphs discount.

The worst was how Caesars tried to foolishly extend the Fuel Rewards Network into other aspects of their Total Rewards program, with disasterous results.

I'm sure Alan remembers the epic FAIL he experienced when he spent his precious "experience points" on their "free gas for a year" award, when in reality it was just $4/gallon for up to 20 gallons on just ONE FILL UP per month. And worst yet, this was on your FRN card, meaning that it was only good at the few Shell gas stations which took FRN.

This had all kinds of problems.

What if you don't have a Shell station near you which took FRN, or what if it had lousy prices compared to other Shell stations?

What if gas falls below $4/gallon? Then you're wasting value.

What if you don't need 20 gallons in a single fill up (as most people don't)? Again, you're wasting value.

What if you're traveling for a month and won't be near a Shell station?

The most ridiculous thing was that Caeasrs had tons of Shell gift cards it could have given out in lieu of this mess, and instead they chose to give this "experience" through FRN.

No one ever said it was gonna be a good experience! Hehe.

If you recall Caesars allowed me to change that "Experience" after I complained.

The FRN bonus for play was never anything substantial. For me it was worth maybe three dollars a month.

I'm not crying over it. I just think it's another sign of Caesars cutting anything and everything they can.
