Thread: Going to Vegas next week

Will be staying at Caesars for seven days. They were nice enough to combine offers between my wife and I so that we could be in the same room for the entire stay through the holiday. I don't mean to sound greedy, the rooms are comped, but which tower can we expect to be placed in? It wasn't mentioned over the phone. Is there a particular tower that we would want to avoid if possible? Would it be appropriate to ask for an upgrade from that tower when the room is already comped? We're are platinum card holders.

Choice of tower depends on what you plan to do. If you are a pool person, the Palace Tower is ideal. The Octavius Tower is also good for the pool.

If you like the Forum Casino for its games then stay in the Forum Tower.

If you can use the Seven Stars valet at the Flamingo entrance the Augustus tower is most convenient.

More important than the tower is whether or not your room has been upgraded. Most of the rooms have been upgraded.

Views will vary but are you going to be staying in your room for the view?

I usually get the Bellagio fountain view from the Augustus Tower. Very nice. It lasts 30 seconds and then I am out the door.

    Thanks for the input Alan.

Been going to Vegas for 30 years and we've never stayed at Caesars. Sounds like the Augustus Tower would be our preference, whether or not we get it is another story.

If you're 7-Stars I'd expect they'd put you in Augustus unless you request something different and it's available. Just call them and discuss it if you want to know where you'll be placed in advance.

Room selection is more a result of time of year and occupancy than anything else. We stayed in an Augustus room a couple of years ago, nice view of the fountains, but just another room to us. We shower and sleep there, so rooms are not a priority. We didn't particularly care for Caesars casino, too big, too spread out, just too much. Casual dining options were overpriced and limited, we like Fulton St food court across the way at Harrahs, salad bar is especially nice.

Forget the $20 "trick" at the check in desk, I'm 100% sure this "trick" was started (and perpetuated) by the front desk hotel clerks to pad their income. I've even read of $50/$100 sandwiches handed to the clerk to get a wink-wink upgrade. What a load of crap, if you are there mid-week in a slow time of year, most requests for upgrades will be granted. Clerks have a lot of discretion when checking you in, they either do or don't have the ability to give you the upgrade, how much you tip is immaterial. Over the years I've upgraded to suites, better views, better rooms, etc. by simply asking. Never tipped a front desk clerk.

Thanks for the input Rob and James. I called this morning to ask which tower we would be placed in and she advised that we will be in the forum tower. Given the fact that they were nice enough to combine offers to make a longish seven night stay I really can't complain. Also, we are not seven stars. I did ask for an upgrade to the Augustus tower, high floor, with the fountain view so she noted that as a preference but could not give that to me over the phone. We will see.
