He came off as too much of a corporate spokesman.

I was hoping to hear the type of stuff the casinos won't tell you.

Instead, we got nonsense like, "The casinos want people to win, too. If 55 percent lose and 45 percent win, the casino is happy."

Ugh.

I wanted to know more about the fight with the wife finding the husband with a "date" at the table.

That reminded me of the time I was in Vegas at the Bellagio with wife #3 and I had wife #1 and my kids at Caesars under my comps. We all met for brunch.

The problem is that this guy is in management, and there's no way he's risking his job by telling us any secrets.

This could have been interesting if it were an interview with a former casino employee, or some scrub pit supervisor who didn't care much about his job.

He pretty much confirmed what we all know: it's arbitrary and you have to check your rating before you leave the game. There are no secrets.

The guy did talk about the concept of being "overcomped", which I'm glad he touched upon.

Many people on this forum deny that overcomping really exists, or they deny the impact it has on comps when you do come back and play.

For those that don't know, "overcomped" means that you've been given too many comps for what your play has justified, and you have a negative comp balance. This means that you need to come back and play just to earn comps you PREVIOUSLY received on other trips!

Rather than having to earn your way back to zero, I would suggest anyone overcomped to simply stop playing at that casino (and all others owned by that company in the same market) for 2 years or so, and at that point your overcomping will generally be forgiven upon return. This is because casinos value very much the long-dormant-but-returning players.

I currently have an odd situation where I am way overcomped in the Vegas market, but have fairly good stats in the SoCal/Rincon/Laughlin/Tahoe/New Orleans markets.

So I get offers, but not for Vegas.
