What is the value if you don't hit a royal?

Good luck nerakil and I hope you hit that royal while you are there. I have never seen that bank of machines before. I usually play at the Heavenly Bar but would love to be there now to take a shot at that $5700 royal. Thanks for pointing them out. I will look for them on our next trip there in October.

    Thanks for posting this.

Are you there right now? And are you over 55?

I've got 11 years til I get there.

Alan, the return without a royal is 97.18%.

nerakil, how is the base return on that machine 100.12%? I calculated 100.15%.

Why is the BP only 97.18%? Isn't 8/5 BP supposed to be 99.17%? The meter shows the royal currently is paying almost $5800 if hit? I don't get the $1160 RF he is referring to. Maybe once it has been hit it resets back to that amount. If that is the case I would not play it unless it goes back up over $4000 again.

Hi seemoreroyals: Alan likes to consider the return of a video poker game "between royal cycles". In this case, the Bonus Poker game returns 100.15%, but the Royal Flush makes up about 3% of the return. Assuming you don't hit any royals, the rest of the hands he hits will return about 97%.

When we refer to video poker returns, we use 1-coin paybacks (e.g. "8/5" Bonus Poker and not 40/25 Bonus Poker). Here, I use 1,160 coins, but feel free multiply it by 5 to get the 5-coin Royal Flush payout.

The reset amount for this dollar game is $4,000, as usual, or 800 coins per 1-coin bet.

Todd: No, I don't qualify yet. I'm [Atomic Number of Nickel] years old. I just finished up hitting 150K tier credits over 8 days and will be flying back to work today, leaving Lake Tahoe shortly.

Interestingly, I played exactly *zero* hands of 99.54% JoB and zero hands of the +EV Bonus Poker game mentioned above.

RS__: There are much better AP opportunities here than the Bonus Poker game above that everyone knows about. In fact, this game resets at a +EV state for anyone 55+ years old every Monday.

Alan: The most amazing thing I saw over the weekend was a guy betting $600 continuous come bets with full 2-3-4-5X odds on... crapless craps. In one particular roll, he had all 10 points covered and hardways pressed up to the table max, and proceeded to go on a 40+ roll heater. When he finally sevened-out, he had over $300,000 in front of him. The house edge is through the roof for crapless craps (5.38%), but I guess you can't argue with winning, right? *shrug*

nerakil-when we used to play crapless craps, we used to place (or put if allowed) rather than have odds on the 2.3 11. 12. I don't remember what effect, if any, that had on the edge for that game. Usually put bets were not allowed.
