Thread: Oh So Special Vegas Seven Star Event

  1. #1
Anyone going to the Vegas 7 star event starting tomorrow? We will be flying in in time to go to the welcoming dinner/reception at Caesar's. They are advertising it as part of their 50th celebration so it should be worth going to.

Friday we are doing the Hoover Dam Jeep tour. Probably doing Gordan Ramsey's for dinner Fri night. Saturday we will be doing the Pole Position go cart racing and planning on doing Javier's sometime afterwards, then the Mariah Carey concert and later on at night doing the highroller.

Sunday we are doing the Sterling Brunch at Bally's. We went there last year and really enjoyed the lobster tails and king crab legs. We booked all of our activities in April and noticed they added a lot of other activities such as the wine and painting that we did last year and tacos and tequilla that we would have probably did instead of the go carts if it had been available at the time we put the trip together.

We are using our diamond aspirations level 2 airfare to get there, staying in a Jubuilee suite at Bally's so other than the meal at Javier's everything is being paid for thanks to
CET. Anyone else planning on going?

BTW wife just told me they cancelled the Britney Spears concert scheduled for Sat night so those of you that chose that concert to go to will have to scramble for something else.

I opted not to sign up for an event this year. Last year I was going to go to the one in AC but ended up not being able to attend.
I'm interested in hearing how it was if you want to share your trip experience when you get back.
Although I did get as far as signing up for one last year, I have always had hesitation regarding these events. One of the perks of Seven Stars that I enjoy most when visiting LV is the ability to line cut and first available seating at most of the restaurants. During these events I'd assume that perk would be much less useful given the number of Seven Stars that attend these events.

I had planned to go but canceled my reservation yesterday because I have other business that comes first. Have fun and enjoy. Sorry I'm missing it. It's one of the few weekends when there's so much to do you might never be in a casino.

If you never have been before they are definitely worth going to. CET really does a great job and includes a lot of neat activities and as Alan says it's hard to find enough time to find your way into the casino. Even though there are plenty of 7 stars there the perk is still one of the best available. A few years ago they had cruises available for the event. We did one out of New Orleans that ended up being the most memorable perk we ever received from CET. Other than being all expenses paid other than transportation, we ended up meeting another 7 star couple that we have became friends with, that we meet up with 3 or 4 times each year for various casino related events.

Thanks Alan. Sorry you will be missing it this year.

I'm not attending for various reasons:

    1) Too hot. I spend enough time in Vegas for the WSOP in the summer. I don't feel like going back in August and roasting.

    2) Being a "lower Seven Stars" who is also overcomped, they tend to not invite me for the better parts of these events.

    3) I have a young son, so I would either have to go to these events by myself or restrict myself to the portions which allow children. Two years ago he was actually able to attend everything (and was like the only kid there), but it took place in October (so the weather was much better) and I was going to Vegas anyway.

Anyway, with all of that said, I would probably go if it were at a better time of year, and provided I wasn't restricted just to the lesser portions of the event (as I seemed to be in previous years).

But I just have a hard time going back to Vegas in the summer after leaving WSOP.

Out of curiosity I just chcecked an old e-mail I got about my signature event, from back in May.

Apparently I was invited to everything this year, but only after certain things had sold out.

    Vegas event info: http://www.totalrewards.com/content/..._las_vegas.pdf

I was also offered a Dell 14 3000 Series laptop for attending, which sounds great until you google it and see that it's worth a whopping $229.

I did have to laugh at this passage:

LAKE MEAD DINNER CRUISE | DINE UNDER THE STARS

    Friday, August 26 | 6:30pm

Evenings on Lake Mead offer delightfully cooler temperatures and calm, glassy waters.
Every tour with Lake Mead Cruises offers passengers spectacular views of Lake Mead and the
breathtaking scenery surrounding it. Photographers will love the colorful landscapes, everchanging
skies, and unrivaled panoramic views. The breathtaking landmarks include Fortification
Hill (an extinct volcano), the Arizona Paint Pots and their wonderland of color, and the
    magnificent Hoover Dam.
Evenings on Lake Mead don't offer cooler temperatures -- at least not at 6:30. Whoever wrote that doesn't realize that the high temperature in Vegas in the summer typically occurs at 5pm!

I would actually enjoy an evening cruise on Lake Mead, but not when it's 100-110 degrees!

Anyway, I do hope that those who go have fun.

I will admit that I did enjoy the one in October 2014 despite thinking beforehand that it sounded lame.

Dan, I think we are catching a break on the weather this year. Other than today when it is expected to hit 102, the rest of the trip will be in the upper 90's. We will be inside most of the time anyway other than morning walks and pool time afterwards. The only other time we will be outdoors is for the Hoover dam Jeep tour. All of the activities within the event we are being told are sold out. We tried to switch the pole position go cart racing for the tacos and tequilla cooking and were told that it was sold out and that our best chance was upon arrival to see if there were any last minute cancellations. If I can figure out how to upload pics from my iphone to this website I will post some pictures from the event.

Being realistic... they schedule these massive free offers when the casino would otherwise be dead. This is at the tail end of the vacation season (schools are back in session in California which kills 1/3 of Vegas travel) and the convention business doesnt start up again until after Labor Day.

I have to admit that I am also a "value" guy and always try to compute the actual value of whatever perks I'm being given (aside from perks without monetary value, such as priority lines).

Most of these activities are ones I can do myself if I want to pay for them. And to be honest, most of them aren't all that expensive.

So while indoor go-cart racing or a night cruise on Lake Mead sounds fun, I can do them myself any time in Vegas for not all that much money.

The concert is actually worth decent money, but truthfully I'm not that big of a fan of either Mariah or Britney. If I had to choose, I would go with Britney, but this isn't something I would normally pay a lot of money for.

And the brunch... I'm sure it will be fairly good, but it's just a meal, and again one I could pay for on my own.

These things all together would actually add up to some decent value, and it would be a fun weekend, but between the hot weather and having to find someone to watch my son all weekend, it's not worth doing for me personally.

seemoreroyals, you did luck out with the weather. Late August can still be bad in Vegas, but this month has been pretty mild in general (after a very hot July -- which sadly bled into my Tahoe trip!)

Let us know how you enjoyed the event.

When I went to the October 2014 event, my son especially enjoyed it because it was his birthday weekend (turning 4 at the time), so he felt like he was going to one party after another, including one where he bowled for the first time in his life. I will say that the scheduled activities this year are superior to the ones I did in 2014, though I was happy with the 2014 events since my son was able to go to all of them. People did find it odd to see a 4-year-old at Seven Stars parties, though!

You could probably buy the BOAT used for Lake Mead cruises if you didn't choose to gamble so often. And you really don't know what you're talking about when you criticize that cruise event because of temps. I've been on several cruises and multiple fishing trips on the lake at all times of the year, and temps on the lake are 7-10 degrees cooler than they are in LV. Their ad is factually correct. So instead of coming up with a bunch of lame excuses about how this isn't worth it, how "I, as an OVERCOMPED player can afford to pay for these things so I don't need a handout from CET"and my "son" wouldn't handle it well, why not let the others here look forward to and enjoy the events without all your sour grapes and denigration?

    Hey Rob,

I'll be in LV early next week. On another forum, you made the suggestion that I don't report my visits accurately. So I'm trying to be helpful with a heads up. If you want to get together, let me know. Any parking garage but the Plaza works for me. Being a classy guy, I've gotta draw the line somewhere.

    Sounds like someone wasn't invited.

Rob made curious comments on another forum, so now I feel obligated to post photos with the day's paper or something so he doesn't feel as if I'm misleading anyone.

Just trying to help the dude out.

There appears to be jealousy directed towards Alan and Dan. I'm guessing both have a substantially higher income compared to one on a fixed income and the envy is showing through.

7 star event update: Last nights reception was okay. Not outstanding but the extra large shrimp and better than expected cocktail sauce was the highlight to me of what was offered. The prime rib was just okay and the crab claws were small. The salad and veggies were about what I expected and the bar offered decent selection of beer, wines, and spirits but somewhat limited.

This morning the Hoover Dam Jeep tour was actually better than we expected. If we had to pay for it I am guessing it would be about $100 per person. Very informative and it is amazing to marvel at the engineering that was needed to create the Hoover Dam back in the 1930's. I had no idea what a big role it played in providing electricity and water for such a large part of the West and Southwest while at the same time eliminating the problem that existed in this part of the world with flooding. At the same time it gave a massive shot in the arm to this country's economy just as we were clawing our way out of the Great Depression.

Tomorrow we were able to change our other activity from Pole Position Racing to Nachos and Tequilla at Guy Fieri's El Burro Borracho restaurant. Then we have the Mariah Carrey concert and after that some time we are going to the open bar High Roller. Our final freebie will be the Sterling Brunch on Sunday. Looking forward to those unlimited lobster tails and king crab legs and everything else that comes with it.

Overall having done three 7 star events I would have to say it is without a doubt the best single yearly benefit of being a 7 star. The first couple of years we overlooked it, not realizing what a great perk it was. But from now on as long as it is being offered we will be trying to make it every year as long as something does not come up that gets in the way. I am hoping that maybe next year they will surprise us and bring back the 7 star event cruises. As fun as the last two 7 star events have been in Vegas, the cruises that were offered the previous two years were even better.
