Thread: Ultimate 4 of a Kind Bonus Poker at Tropicana LV

  1. #1
Friend of mine found this game at the Trop, which takes 6 coins for Max Play.

It's called Ultimate 4 of a Kind Bonus Poker. Here is the description:

    http://wizardofodds.com/games/video-...-a-kind-bonus/

For 1 to 5 coins bet, the game plays like ordinary video poker. If the player bets a 6th coin, he will be eligible to play a bonus game if he gets any natural four of a kind on the draw.

In the bonus game, the player picks from 1 to 3 cards from a 53-card deck. Four aces will earn 3 picks, Four 2-4's will earn two picks, and four 5's to K's will earn one pick. If the player gets a four of a kind on the deal, then he will be awarded with an extra pick. The prizes associated with the 53-card bonus deck are as follows.

    Joker: 3996
    Aces: 400
    2's-4's: 300
    5's-K's: 200

When the joker is revealed, the player's total bonus win immediately jumps to 3996 credits and the bonus ends.
From what I can tell, the 8-5 game posted above has a 99.37% return, since the 8 full house gives you an extra 0.69% over the 98.68% 7-5 version

The problem is that this game is bruuuuuuuuutal when you're not hitting quads or a royal. Your return while not hitting any of those is 62.16%, so it will eat you alive when you're not getting big hands.

    Has anyone played this?

How are the comps at the Trop in general?

    Hi Dan,

I used to love this game. Played it almost exclusively. Not at Tropicana. Don't know anything about Trop.
There are two of these at Rincon. And one at Bellagio. Haven't seen (or really looked) for it anywhere else.
I stopped playing it because I felt like I rarely got to the bonus round anymore. I would only play deuces wild bonus.

Years ago at Rincon it was great. Always hit on it. As you said, if you hit you can really do well but if not it can eat you alive.

My best, and most fun, jackpot on it was at Rincon. I was dealt three deuces, an Ace, and some other high car, for a dirty Royal (Royal with deuces). That would have paid 125. So I pulled a "Rob special play" and only held the three deuces, hoping for another one, for 1000 plus the bonus round. Well I got the fourth deuce AND another Ace for 2000 AND the bonus round. Being deuces I got an extra one or two picks. Can't remember exactly. I must have had three picks for the math to add up. During the bonus round I hit the Joker. So fun! I hadn't even realized until the total jackpot that I got the Ace with the additional deuce. I was too excited just to get the deuce! Lol. It was, at the time, by far my biggest jackpot with a total of around 7K.

It's a very fun game if you get on a roll with the bonus rounds.

P.S. - During the bonus round, if you have several picks, and hit the joker before all of the picks are completed, the remaining picks are forfeited. A little annoying but after hitting 4000 you don't really care. At least I didn't.

Tropicana is now owned by Penn National (Hollywood casinos). Comps are basically non resistant.

Do you mean non existant? Auto complete on cell phones do make errors, don't they?

Yeah. Thanks Alan. You should see some of the suggestions for other words.

Ok thanks for the info about Trop having poor comps. I won't bother with it.

What about the machine at Bellagio? Is that also 8/5? Is it still there?

Oddly, there are two at Trop, right next to each other at the same limits. One is 7/5, and one is 8/5.

Apparently, there is a "mythical" $1 Single-Line Ultimate 4 Of A Kind 7/5 Bonus Poker machine (99.96%) at Horseshoe Hammond (Ind.) that offers full tier credits ($10 for 1). The machine was still on the casino floor as of March 2015.

Here you can see the lucky player picked the "Joker" in the bonus round and won 3,996 credits + 125 for the quad 5's.

I don't see comps as being "non-existent" at LV Tropicana. I haven't been in there since 2012, and 2 months ago they sent me an offer for 3 free nights and $200 in free play. No intentions of going though.

Their Vegas properties probably are a little more loose with them.

Nerakil-do you have any idea where this machine is supposed to be? I will look for it and confirm if you can tell me where it is. It is a huge casino and VP is not all in one spot.

I've been getting pretty nice offers from Tropicana LV, despite never having played there, since they came under Penn National and went to Marquee Rewards. Free nights, free play and enough food credits up front that would be more than enough to cover my costs since I'm not a big F&B spender. I just have no desire to stay there. I only have limited play at one Hollywood casino that I occasionally pass on my travels.

regnis, I don't know the exact location. However, according to the source, there are two stand-alone machines at Horseshoe Hammond and the marquee is easy to spot from a distance.

March 2015 is pretty long ago, but I just had a PFA Radio listener ask me about something else at Horseshoe Hammond, so if you tell me exactly where this was, I'll ask him to go look if it's still there.

The downside of single-play $1 machines like this is the slowness in running tier credits if trying to earn Diamond/Seven Stars. At 500 hands per hour, it would take over 8 hours just to earn 2500 base tiers, and over 16 hours to earn 5000 base tiers.

Last I was at Hammond, the two U4oakB machines were still there. As I remember, the paytables were not good and I heard have been downgraded further. I remember 7/5 DDB for quarters and 8/5 for dollars.

The machines are towards the back in the large VP section.

8-5 DDB is 99.37% (see original post) for this game. That's not bad at all, though admittedly not as good as 99.96%.

Thanks for the info about its location. If you visit Hammond, please check this out and let me know.

Look at how silly and amateurish you people are by making believe a theoretical half of a percent will make any difference whatsoever in reality to someone who goes in and plays that gimmicky game for ten hours.

No wonder so many people feel misled, cheated and let down by most of the chatter that goes on in these remaining forums. Folks want to know HOW they can achieve better actual results--and not keep reading about what armchair book theory has to say about it. It's amazing some of you hotshot gamblers have never been able to get that.

Rob, why do you have to troll every thread with this crap?

Mathematics is not "armchair book theory".

It is sad that you did not learn back in high school about the basic facts of mathematics, and how it affects one's life.

Here, Rob... this is a quick lesson from a satirical musician who was popular while you were in high school, Tom Lehrer:

How many hands must one play to realize the expectations listed above?
