Thread: New Year's Eve

I created a page on my web site to keep track of New Year's Eve events and offers: http://alanbestbuys.com/id444.html

I found my Caesars offers on totalrewards.com about a week ago, Caesars Palace included. The only ones with free play are $850 at Harrahs, Flamingo, or Ballys. Linq says something about a dance party. The others look like dinner and brunch. Still have not received paper offers.

My host called me a week or so ago about the Caesars NYE offer. I am registered but it's not known who the entertainment is. Last year I skipped the party and Arianna Grande and had dinner at Old Homestead and saw Celine... for the 13th or 14th time.

By the way that package of offers I wrote about belongs to a Platinum player who went to Caesars twice in 2016.

If you want to deal with traffic, and OVERPRICED restaurants, then I could find lots of places in LA. But most years when I stay in LA I stay at home and I watched Dick Clark and the ball drop on TV. Frankly, going out in LA for NYE is about the worst idea in the world.

NYE in LA means stay home.

At least when you're in Vegas your only "problem" is hoping that there's enough housekeeping staff working to change your sheets and bring you towels. I say this because about five, six, seven or 8 years ago (I don't remember) I couldn't get my room made up at Caesars for three days.

The brothels are booked solid, Rob. And glitter is extra.

Just another midnight no different than August 19th. I'm usually in bed by then.

Gee... do the brothels have a party?

I got a free room offer for Excalibur for NYE. No desire to stay there.

My CET NYE offers were emailed to me last night. Actually a link in an email. Harrahs, Flamingo, and Rio include $850 free play. I think I will take the free play at Harrahs or Flamingo. Last year I stayed at Caesars. Caesars says includes celebrity entertainment but doesn't say who.

Supermaxhd as of a few minutes ago (just got off the phone) Caesars still hasn't signed a contract with the entertainment.

Why not? The rooms are very nice, they have an excellent selection of normal restaurants (as in unlike an overpriced and underwhelming Nobu or some crappy raw fish sushi joint), they have much better everyday shows, and there are FAR less annoying foreigners roaming around the place compared to the numbers who flock to CP thinking it is the end-all in Vegas destinations.

I stopped in the Excalibur and Tropicana on a recent LV trip to SP, and both properties have undergone very impressive renovations. Why you people insist on allowing CET to keep reeling you in is a mystery.

My offers are for free play, rooms, food, gifts, shows, resort credits, etc.

Are these offers considered comps, or is there a difference between offers and comps?

Coach your offer is a form of comp. A comp can be anything you don't pay for. Rooms are comps. Meals are comps. Trips are comps. Free play is a form of comp. Airfare is a comp.

Some comps are automatic such as those guaranteed when you reach Diamond or Seven Stars. Other comps are given to you based on play or if a host likes you or if you are selected for some marketing reason.

I have to agree with Rob here. You guys that say you don't play for comps sure can't give up that precious SS card. It's like a ball and chain on many of you. I don't understand why any of you don't diversify.

I'm a Platinum with MGM MLife (second highest) and I was close to making Noir before the fiscal year closed. To be honest, there is little with MGM that is appealing.

The rooms at Bellagio are not as nice as the rooms at Caesars Palace. I think it is strange having one sink which makes it awfully inconvenient for two to get ready to go out to dinner, etc. Having the toilet at Caesars in a separate "water closet" is very attractive and not having the toilet contained at Bellagio limits the use of the bathroom to one person at a time for privacy. The jacuzzi tubs at Caesars are better than the plain tub at Bellagio. Seven Stars gives at least one free movie a day and there are no free movies at Bellagio. Room service is better at Caesars. Caesars I think has better restaurants and Caesars has Celine.

I was supposed to go to Bellagio tonight for the Lakers game at the T Mobile Arena -- but I canceled the trip. I really wasn't in the mood.

Now... I will say I think the Bellagio casino is much nicer than what Caesars has. I am very comfortable in the Bellagio casino which I think is cleaner, and less crowded with young drunks. Frankly, the Europeans who visit Bellagio are more respectful than Americans.

Alan, you spend far more time on the casino floor than you do in a room awake, so the feeling you get from being in a property's casino should be the top driver of where to go. And I'm surprised at your level that you aren't getting offered suites at Bellagio. Theirs are hugely superior to comparable suites next door. Additionally, Bellagio has much better restaurants, a superior atmosphere, a way better high limit slots area, and the bars so overmatch what their neighbor has that it's not even in the same conversation.

LOL. The two buffets in Las Vegas I won't eat -- Circus-Circus and Excalibur.
