Thread: Caesars properties to start charging for parking within a few weeks

    http://caesarslasvegas.mediaroom.com...gas-Properties

    The highlights:

    - On December 19, The LINQ and Harrah's will start charging for valet parking.

    - In early 2017, all Vegas Caesars properties will start charging for self parking AND valet parking, except for the Rio.

    - The Rio will continue providing free parking.

    - Platinum and above Total Rewards cardholders will get parking for free, similar to how MGM properties give free parking for Pearl and above cardholders.

You can avoid these charges by signing up for the free Total Rewards Credit Card, which gives you automatic Platinum status: https://www.totalrewards.com/content...ml?rd=CL1_visa

    Well, that's a revolting development.

The primary way it'll affect me is that I like to park in Caesars' while doing numbers checks. It's convenient and I like the coffee shop there (not so much since it's Starbucks, but oh well), but this would crimp that. I'm not paying for parking, because the majority of the time, I'm in and out in 30 minutes or less.

So the Rio becomes my CET numbers checkpoint.

I miss parking at the old Barbary Coast. That was convenient.

I am not surprised and while it does not impact me, I think it was a mistake for Caesars just as it was a mistake for MGM. It just sends the wrong message.

It's one thing to cut out the robes and the shower gels from the rooms, but the parking fees hit players as soon as they arrive and sends a negative signal.

Now Wynn will be charging for valet:

Maybe now you guys will start to see the value many of the first class off-Strip venues provide, and accept the fact that the casinos on LV Blvd. chiefly cater to and are mainly for foreigners. Why people allow themselves to stay addicted to CET, MGM etc. is surely a mystery.

Think of it this way Rob: the new parking fees will stop the riff raff. "Real players" won't be charged fees so maybe this will keep out the hookers, the drunks and the kids.

  7. #7
LOL -- when you think about it, the hookers have a lot of money, and try to hang out where clients have a lot of money. The "kids" from California generally have a lot of money. And the drunks won't be driving anyway.

So there's your parking fee demography.

Vegas is moving more towards the millennial crowd. You think someone getting ready to drop a few thousand in a nightclub is going to sweat a few bucks for parking?

So the strip loses a few of the match play and two for one buffet crowd. They are more than welcome downtown. I can see where the older grinders on fixed income might lose some sleep over this, but those that have real money aren't going to give it a second thought. Those are the ones CET want coming through the door.

I am going to start a Go Fund Me to make sure the hookers can pay for parking at Caesars. Please get on board and save our hookers.

  10. #10
Gosh... the only hookers who have approached me at Caesars Palace don't look like they even have a dollar to tip the valet and paying $18 would be impossible.

  11. #11
The reality is this affects 2 demographics.. The locals in the immediate Vegas area who drive to the strip to play. The other demo are those who like me live close enough to drive to Vegas (from Phoenix Metro, or Cali) who are maybe first timers thus have no 'status' with MGM.. Anybody who plays a little obviously gets the parking fee waived but since MGM and others have been losing gambling revenue maybe this is some lame attempt to get minimal play from folks I don't know.. Those who fly in to McCarran aren't affected one damn bit by the parking fees so those who travel into town for a weekend for some bachelor party or what not.. Seems to me its an attempt to get more play out of those who actually can visit more then once every 1-2 yrs at best..

That's scathingly brilliant. We need to do this. I can see a Best Buys special devoted to fund raising. Alan, you're on board, right?

Maybe we can shoot it over Christmas. Make it a Christmas special. We need to round up some hookers dressed as elves. Or elves dressed as hookers. Either way.

Now I'm jazzed. Get it rolling, regnis. I'll make travel arrangements. December 10-16 sounds good. I have a friend who looks like Zac Efron. I think he'd pass for Zac. I'll recruit him!

Alan, get those cameras ready, baby!

Redietz--it's a burden being a do-gooder like me. But it just makes me feel good to help others in this way.

Regnis, I can't make the decision on hookers dressed as elves or elves dressed as hookers. Little people are hot in television right now. Any thoughts? It's a tough call. One would think the hookers dressed as elves would cost more, but the mini-hooker costumes are surprisingly expensive....and hard to find.

Red, you really don't have what it takes when it comes to trying to make light-hearted conversation on issues like these. Your replies are nearly always so corny and from some lost land inside your tortured mind. And I do expect more of the same as a response to this.

LOL...he's jazzed. What a strange bird.

How about festivus with the ditz?...airing of grievances & feats of strength.

And sure...Alan please bring the cameras.

That's okay, Rob. I never claimed that my humor was popular. If you're going to be in town, by the way, we will be in Las Vegas the 11th through the 16th. Be more than happy to meet you -- I understand you prefer parking garages, but don't feel constrained. Anywhere is good. We'll buy you a beer or three. My tortured mind is feeling the holiday spirit.

Coach, feel free anytime to shed that anonymity and be a brave soul. You're invited, also.

Alan, regnis, would love to meet you guys sometime. If anybody's in the city, drop me a line.

No ditz, I'm not coming to Vegas in December, I have children and family and games to coach...December is not the time to do LV for me.

But I will be in LV for a week, and I'll be in NO for a week, and I'll be in AZ for a week, and I'll be in AC every other week,
so it's likely that we can meet up sometime in 2017...and I'm looking forward to it.

Let's keep in touch and make this happen...we can bet on the outcomes of our challenges...Alan can film it...and all that jazz.

Parking garages are good for me too, slim. See you soon.

Let me know when you're headed to LV, coach.

Back to the original topic -- I finally saw the actual parking fees for self and valet parking property by property. I think even Rob would tell them to shove it. Wayne Allyn Root did a fine article ripping CET and MGM, and explaining that his days of spending $100 a meal for 10 meals a week at various fine restaurants in the MGM and CET properties is now done. He had a real problem with going from zero for valet to $13 a pop. He tips five bucks a whack and felt insulted that they'd tattoo him on top of that.

The average bill for the average tourist just went up $30 per trip, according to estimates.

There is a list of properties where you can pop in and out and the first hour is free, which works for me, as that's what I generally do to check numbers. But there is no way I'm parking in their lots at $10 a day for self and $13 for valet. Forget it.

Keep in mind that Platinum gets free valet parking. Again, this is going to hit non players.
