Thread: Match Play

  1. #1
I received a bunch of Match Play coupons for a local casino. The rules printed on the back of the coupon say they can be used on any even money bet. But these are $100 coupons and you also have to bet your own $100 with it. So if I was going to put the coupon for $100 on the pass line, I have to put $100 cash on the pass line also. If the bet wins, they take the coupon and give me $100 for the coupon and of course $200 for the cash bet.

I could also play blackjack since it is even money. I don't know what happens if you get a blackjack.

Since I don't play blackjack and I don't bet the pass line (unless I am the shooter--and then only the minimum), what is the value of these coupons or is it not worth even using.

Page 5 shows the various values of match plays based on a $10 coupon. Just multiply by 10 for your $100 ones. Pass line shows a value of $4.788 for $10 so $47.88 for $100.

You can get a tiny bit more value betting the Player bet in baccarat if you don't relinquish the coupon on a tie ($48.00)

    P.S. If you win, you get paid $100 + $100. Not $100 + $200

Strategy on BJ is also a little weird. I'd just play it on the DP.

My inclination is to not bother using the coupons because I have to use my own $ in an equal amount and it would be on games and/or bets that I wouldn't otherwise make.

JB--I get $100 for the coupon and $200 (win $100 and get my $100 bet) for the cash wager. So bet 200 ($100 cash plus 100 coupon) and get back 300 cause they take the coupon.

A match play is just a piece of paper that goes along with your original bet and represents another cash bet. Your cash portion doesn't get paid 2 to 1. Yes you get the actual bet back if won just like any other bet if that's what you mean.

The casino won't pay you $300 total though. Just $200. Take the winnings and your original bet.

In other words, the coupon just allows you to get paid 2 to 1 on an otherwise 1 to 1 bet.

    I like jbjb's explanation.

Nothing wrong with using match play coupons until they make you place a large bet out of your comfort range. How many of us would use a match play coupon for $10,000? I wouldn't.

You wouldn't make a $10,000 pass line bet knowing that if it wins you get paid $20,000? You can afford it.

I sold them for $25 each. $525 in my pocket no risk and not forced to make bets or play games that aren't in my repertoire.

Obviously I can't afford it and I don't think anybody who is short of a $100,000 or higher bankroll would make a single $10,000 bet even if it did return $20,000. Even if I did have a budget of $10,000 I would not risk it all on one bet. I would expect to get a lot of play out of $10,000 with multiple chances of hitting winners.

I think you could've at least gotten $40 a piece out of them. Unless they expire soon and you just wanted to unload them.

Give me a $10K matchplay, I'll bet it all day every day.

Expire 12-31---so I did just want to unload them. And I got a bonus with the $525!!

    You had 26 coupons?
Take off that stupid mask you big baby.

25 Qua. I can't go into great detail but 5 were regular mailer and the additional 20, I assume, were in response to a beef that I had.

Now they sent me two $500 match plays. I really have no use for them. I guess if I played BJ and got to $500 in my progression I would drop a match play coupon. But there is no even money bet in craps on which I would bet the matching $500.

Anyone want to buy them?? Cheap!!

Where? When? And how much you asking?

Looked at the coupons today RS. They have my name and account number on the face and say that they can only be used by me. That being said, I would have to use them on your behalf. One is for the first 2 weeks in Feb--the second is for the last 2 weeks in Feb. Casino here in Chicago.

I figure $200 each is a fair number.

Ah, shoot. I was hoping you'd sell them for much cheaper ($200 sale makes it worth only $40/coupon or so), and for them to be here in LV - so I could verify the win/loss of the coupon (I don't want to get scammed....also wouldn't want for you to lose the $1k then me not being sure if I'm getting scammed or not). I'll have to pass on it.

regnis I would take the match play coupons to the casino and just ask around if someone would want to make your deal... with them putting up the money for you to play as they watched.
