Rio power failure

900 rooms at the Rio are not available because of a power failure. Guests being moved to other hotels including Caesars.

Laughably, this happened because a sink overflowed and then it caused a short in the electrical system, which also caused a small fire, which the sprinklers extinguished. 400 rooms lost power.

Then because of the sprinklers damaging other electrical systems from the day before, the other 500 rooms lost power the next morning.

I think their system clearly has a poor design if a backed up sink and sprinkler systems can do so much damage.

That's pretty funny. It seems like many things are built under the basis of, "If nothing goes wrong, it all works!" instead of "if that breaks, will it create a fuckstorm of other problems?"

Built in 1997....their NYE dinner was only half full last night...

TI, Mirage, Trop, Ballys, Luxor, Excali, Harrahs, Flamingo, Circus all have older towers. Its a matter of maintenance and oversee. The CEO of Rio made huge cuts a year ago...hes now at Harrahs doing the same. This is the result.

Rio doesn't care what anyone thinks or says about their rundown and dingy property here. All they care about is what all the local and S. California gambling-addicted, low-lives see as a good-deal dump with multiple slant-eyed "restaurants", to lose their cash in.

It has nothing to do with reputation, overall customer service, or dignity.

I will be doing something about this thread shortly. There is already discussion here after Rob's racist comment, and I feel that discussion should stand. However, I might edit out the slur and then move the rest of the discussion to another area of the site.

I'm still deciding what to do with that one.

I don't want to see racism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, or any other type slurs on this site.

This site is mostly for discussion of gambling and casino issues, and should not contain such language. I want people of all races, sexual orientations, and religions to feel free to read and post here without having to read such pointless slurs.

I will be banning anyone who continues to use such language.

Furthermore, while I generally don't want to interfere in arguments/fights which go back before I even joined the Alan Best Buys forum, I don't want it to get too nasty, either. This means I don't want to see physical threats, making fun of relatives' deaths, or anything else which crosses the boundaries of semi-respectable arguing. I don't care about harmless name-calling, but I don't want to see it go too far.

This site is one for discussion regarding casinos and gambling, and while I allow some fighting/arguing, I don't want to see gratuitous racism here.
