I'm sure Rob will take special interest in this. As you may recall, I won the Heritage Sports' Race to the Super Bowl last year in a season-long contest with a 25K Super Bowl bet as first prize. There are a couple of thousand entrants.

Well, my girlfriend, as I reported earlier, was beating me this year. She was fourth heading into the final week. She went 16-4 (losing the Tennessee/Houston total by half a point).

Well, she finished second. She lost a tiebreaker (earliest entry when season began) for first. So instead of a 25K Super Bowl bet, she gets 2K. Worst bad beat ever.

That was just godawful.

The thing is, unlike other contests, once you make your week's picks (which serves as your registration the first week), you cannot change them. So you can't sign up way early and then pick the games later.

Brutal beat. Just brutal. And it could have been worse. Four people tied for the lead. She had the second earliest entry. Third got just 1K and 4th got $500.
