My host just emailed me that Caesars Palace is sold out Saturday night because of the Super Bowl. I had asked about a room. Yes Dan... no room even though I'm Seven Stars. I'm not surprised. Some years ago I tried to get a room at the "last minute" for Super Bowl Saturday night and nothing was available.

Alan, I'm just curious. You're not a sports bettor or avid sports guy. Would you actually go to LV if they don't have an event for you? Do a lot of your clients show up for the Super Bowl?
Some of the big differences between Las Vegas 30 years ago and now: (1) The SB was big then, but it's huge now; (2) Halloween has become a big deal; and (3) the NCAA hoops tournament has become a mega-event.
Alan, I'm surprised. No mega casino hotel EVER sells out because they ALWAYS save rooms for their bigger players. If you really wanted a room at Caesar's then you would have gotten one. And at the very least, this host would have already had alternate CET properties lined up for you to choose a room from.
I simply asked my host if there was a room available for me this weekend and the response was all sold out. I did not ask about another property. Frankly, I really didn't want to go. It's one of the worst weekends to be in Vegas because table minimums are so high, it's too crowded, and the "party" is nothing more than big screen TVs and a buffet with burgers, ribs, hot dogs, etc. It's better to watch the game at home... or like last year... in my room at Caesars. I never even made it to the party last year.
