Thread: Trip Report: Lost the girl, won at craps

  1. #1
Just spent an interesting couple of days in Vegas.

First, I lost the latest girlfriend. Frankly, I can't tell you what happened, so don't even bother asking.

Second, I did meet another young lady who happens to be a chef at one of the Vegas hotels but before I tell you about her I want to date her a few times and find out if her food is any good. LOL

Third, what a weekend playing craps. I hit the ALL twice (photos below). And I hit the TALL four times and the only number that prevented me from getting the ALL was the 4. Yes, it was the 4 in all 4 times that kept me from hitting the Small and ALL bets.

Betting $25 the Small and Tall paid $875 each, and the ALL paid $4400.

I stayed at Caesars and this was new: each day I had to sign in again for WiFi on my phone. In previous trips I only had to sign on at the beginning of the trips -- just one time. But now I had to sign in again every 24 hours.

Also, on Friday night, every craps table during the evening in "prime time" was at $10. But after 1am when they started to close some of the tables, the tables that remained open were bumped up to $25 minimum bets.

This is disturbing....and I wish you didn't keep posting about your failed love life. Face it Alan, you've been destined for short-lived relationships and one night stands from the day you saw your first true love. You're never gonna find lasting success with any woman when you put all these trips to LV before anything else.

Prediction: take a two year hiatus from gambling and you'll find your mate thru the end of your life.

Rob... she lives in Vegas. I had to go to Vegas to see her, silly man.
And the chef lives and works in Vegas also. Do you suggest that the two of us date by meeting in Phoenix once a month?

You can phone me, you have my number. I can tell you privately what I think happened.

When I was discussing hitting the ALL with Jason we had this discussion:

    Jason: You set your dice?
Alan: Of course, cross sixes like I always do.
Jason: If you set your dice, why do you get so many different numbers and you're able to get the ALL? Shouldn't you just be getting a few numbers, and not all of them?
Alan: I think the point of using the cross sixes is to minimize getting 7s.

    Grats on hitting the ALLs.

Did you personally hit them while shooting or was someone else shooting the dice when you hit them? Do you always bets $25 on all 3? Or only when you shoot, and less or none if you're not shooting? Do you know what the table max is for ATS?

In the first picture, on top of the stack of blacks in the bank, you can see 3-4 different colored black chips, with blue/yellow/teal inlays (not the typical red/yellow/pink inlays). Also four off-colored yellows and 1 off-colored chocolate. Do you know what those are?

Side note: 3rd base dealer has purple action, yet there's a short stack in the bank. Is there no one sitting box, or what?

Yes, RS__ I personally threw and hit the ALL twice. And as I wrote above, there were four other times when I hit the Tall but missed the 4 to finish the Small and All.

I also was at the table when another shooter hit the ALL and I was betting $5 on each spot when the other shooter had the dice.

I always play $25 on each spot when I shoot. When others shoot I bet anywhere from $5 to $25 depending on how well I've been doing.

I hit either the Small or Tall at least a half dozen times with other shooters.

Alan, Rob is just jealous. He couldn't get layed at Moonlight Bunny Ranch with a fist full of hundreds.

I heard the story from Alan regarding the girl.

Very odd, don't know what to make of it.

Regarding Caesars Wifi, I have always had to sign in again the next day. Not sure how you got away all this time without doing so.

One more note about table minimums. Late night Friday -- when all other tables were at $25 -- when one of the tables became empty they bumped it up to $1,000 minimum bet.

It remained open at $1,000 for more than three hours. I know -- I was playing at the table next to it.

It seems they were holding the table for a high roller -- who did not show up. And after about three hours the table was closed.

This is the first time I saw a table "held for a high roller" by putting a $1,000 minimum bet on it. Normally, they just post "reserved" at the table, and the dealers stand there waiting. I've seen reserved tables with dealers idle for three, four hours. So the only thing unusual this time was the $1,000 minimum bet.

    Hi Alan:

Congratulations on the ALL hits. Did you have any problems taking the photos? I thought photos of tables were not allowed.

I am in the dark regarding what happened with the lady, but what the hell...roll with the punches. I don't think you'll be hurting for company.

Well now you have yet another reason to go to LV. Great!

Don't get me wrong--you deserve a good relationship and a chef has a built-in added bonus. But if she LIVES there and you still aren't going to move there then how can the odds if success be very good? That's like mickey hitchhiking to Bismarck N.D.for a few days to see a woman (or man, when you're as desperate and lonely as he obviously has been his entire life) who drives a snow plow. There's plenty of others around who'll massage titties or shine knobs in his absence.

Great series of rolls. That lady would only have been in the way anyhow. Great rolls are hard to find. A woman--easy.

That chef isn't Giada is it-lol

No problems taking the photos this time nor the other times at Caesars or at Bellagio. I think the unofficial rule has been no photos of other players. However, there were times folks from SoCal would spot me at the table and they would take a photo with me. Usually we'd step back a foot or two from the table so we could be side by side for the photo.

In the second photo above... when I said "wait I want to take a photo" the base dealer with the chips spread the chips out for the photo.

It is common practice to put the dice in the center of the table under the bets so the eye in the sky can see the final roll.

What was new this weekend -- and it didn't happen before -- the pit would call the eye to tell them that the ALL had been hit. They never did that before. However, they always called the eye as soon as four points were hit for the Fire Bet.

I got several emails from her today, which I discussed with Dan since Dan now knows the situation. I think it's tragic for her and for me. I really thought she was the one. But there are some serious issues out of her control and out of my control. Sometimes life shits on you.

    For the record:

I was supposed to move to Vegas last August along with Jason. Jason was going to relocate his business in Vegas to escape all the problems with running his online business in California. Since Jason is my cameraman and editor (part time) it was just as easy for me to live in Vegas and then commute to SoCal as needed when we have shoots.

I had a place picked out, even put down a deposit, but canceled on the morning that the movers were coming because Jason and his new bride decided to stay here in SoCal until after the baby is born. I lost the deposit and remained here in SoCal.

My plan is still to move to Vegas and I think Jason will be moving there as well once the baby is born and they are able to make the move.

In my case, my current lease ends in December, which is also the last month I pay alimony. Most of my work is done online and over the phone and frankly I spend only four or five days a month shooting and editing my shows so commuting from Vegas to SoCal is not an issue.

By the way, the apartment I had picked out in Summerlin was a dream: two bedrooms, two baths, parking, indoor pool and outdoor pool, garden apartment with four units per building, gym, gated entrance and only $980 a month. I currently pay $1950 a month here in LA and there isn't an indoor pool.

I really loved the indoor pool because I really try to stay out of the sun.

Definitely not. I really don't want to discuss this publicly. There is a lot that is private and should remain private for her sake. I've talked about it with close friends and family but it just doesn't belong on the Internet. I still care for her very much.

Kudos to privacy. I wish you and her well.

Meanwhile, I need to track down that apartment in Summerlin. Sounds like a good deal.
