Thread: Caesars Poker Room Observations

  1. #1
I watched a friend playing poker over the weekend at Caesars Palace. I did not play.

    1. There is no longer a "cage" at the poker room. When the poker room was changed and put out on the casino floor, the mini-cage that they used to have was removed. Now you are doing business with poker room staffers who keep money and chips in locked drawers at the poker room podium. That struck me as being not secure at all and the response I got was that there was relatively little money there. However, note that the poker podium does not have easy "get away" access, so think long and hard about robbing it.

    2. I used my Seven Stars card to get my friend to the top of the waiting list for a cash game. Yes, Seven Stars cardholders get preference.

    3. My friend was playing a low level cash game. I would guess that most of the players were "tourists" who honestly didn't know much about playing. The dealer actually had to tell a couple of the players to cover their cards when they were looking at them.

    Hi Alan --

Other things about the Caesars room:
    * they've added levels to their poker tournaments
    * rake is capped at $4
    * no jackpot drop (no high hands, bad beats, etc.)
    * $2/hour comps earned (34 tier credits/hour -- some players are earning Diamond just from poker)
    * during busy times, being 7 Stars can sometimes get them to add you as a 10th player to the table
    * some special times include double the comps to $4/hour for games such as 2/5 NL

I thought the new Caesars poker room would bomb once they moved it away from its own room next to the old Pure nightclub (look at the dwindling poker room every time they moved it around Imperial Palace/Quad/LINQ before finally replacing it with a virtual reality booth).

But on the floor in a separate section was the best thing they could've done. A lot of foot traffic, and after Omnia lets out, some clubgoers stop by to give extra action.

It's now one of my favorite places to play.

Anybody know if the 34TCs per hour is CET wide.. If so I may have to consider a drive down to Ak Chin to play even though its not closest to me to play if for no other reason I can get some TCs (although honestly Id probably still be better off just making a run at it via VP and stick to playing poker close to home)

34 tier credits per hour is worthless.

Ten hours = 340 tier credits.
    X 10 days = 3,400 tier credits

What are you making a run for?

    Alan,

Have you played any tournaments at Pechanga? I saw that Wednesday was the cheap day, so I thought that might be a reasonable way to check it out. They are running at least a morning and early evening tournament every day.

About 10 years ago a buddy took me on a 4 day room comp to Caesar's Palace. I played 2/5 NLH the entire four days. Back then they raked $4 on $80. It's good to see they've held the line on the rake. That is, if they are still raking $4 on $80, a 5% rake. There's a big difference between that and raking $4 on $40, a 10% rake.

With a 4 on 40 rake they rake $1 on a $10 pot, $2 on a $20 pot, $3 on a $30 pot and $4 on a $40 pot. With a 4 on 80 rake they rake $1 on a $20 pot , $2 on a $40 pot, $3 on a $60 pot and $4 on an $80 pot. The difference is in the 4 on 80 game you can drag a $59 pot and only get charged $2. In the 4 on 40 game if you win a $40 pot you get charged $4. So the 4 on 80 rake is pretty good in today's live poker games....if that's what Caesar's is still doing.

It's good to see they don't have bad beat jackpots. Those jackpots suck a lot of money out of the poker economy and cause the losing players to bust out sooner than they should.

The $2 an hour comp and 34 tier credits per hour is worth it to an everyday profitable player. I just checked Bravo and at 5 PM today, Thursday, Caesars has six 1/2 NLH games going. That's pretty good. It looks like a good place for a profitable 1/2 player to hole up.

More nonsense stories about "yesteryear" by someone who's obviously been beaten down by Nevada casinos so badly that he had to run and hide in Montana and live off of govt handouts.

What a tool you are mickey. Drunk, broke, no past life worth beans and no future, no girlfriends or wife, no children, no net worth.....and you need to resort to stories of fantasy to cope with such a wrecked life in between drunken stupors.

Let's hope there's a place for you in Heaven. God will have mercy on you; this world clearly did not.

I agree with Max, moving the room to the middle of the casino and surrounding it with windows has given it more exposure and attracted more players. the primary games are 1-3 no limit, and 2-5 no limit. if you have the bravo live app you can see what games are running. It is a well run room.

7 Stars move to the top of the list, followed by diamond members.

Each poker room has different comp earning. Ak chin is totally different and their rake is higher as they have a lot of promotions (splash pots, baseball pots, etc). I believe ceasars pays out the highest, however, as Alan stated if you are looking to earn comps playing poker is not the way to do it.

At 7:25 PM Bravo is showing five 1/2 NLH games going at Cesars. There is a list to start a 2/5 NLH game with six names on it. There is no 1/3 NLH game going and no list start one. That tells me it's primarily a 1/2 house. A good 1/2 NLH player makes $20 to $30 an hour depending on just how good he/she is. The $2 an hour comp and 34 tier credits per hour is a freebie to a good player. A good 1/2 player doesn't belong out on the casino floor playing negative expectaton video poker for tier credits. He belongs in the poker room.
