However, the last time I made 5 unique points as the shooter, I got caught up in the revelry and decided not to lay against myself. Still looking for my first 6 point firebet win.
    Hi Dannyj:

The reason I don't think I will lay the 4 or 10 on the fifth firebet point in the future is I stand to lose too much if I hit the point since I have to lay 1 to 2 odds. There was no awkwardness when I was shooting the dice at Harvey's. I initially bought in for $500 at a $15 minimum table and after a series of PSOs, a lot of players left the table. As the dice passed to me I had about $200 left. I made $15 pass line bets with double odds and placed the six and 8 for $24 each. I wound up hitting point after point, some on them repeat fire bet points, but not a lot of other numbers. I was slowly pressing my bets.

As soon as I set the point for the 10 as the fifth fire bet, I said, "wait a minute I want to make a lay bet" and the craps table dealers paused the action politely and even said, "if you want to make a lay for $600 you will get $300 if it does not hit." Mind you I made a $1 bet on the fire bet for the crew so they REALLY wanted me to hit the 10. Ultimately, I made a lay bet of $400 (by pulling another 4 Benjamins out of my wallet), and paid the $10 vig up front. I also made a $25 bet on the hard 10 as partial "insurance." However, I rolled a six-four so I lost the hardway bet and the lay although I won an additional $1,125 for hitting the fifth fire bet point. One of the dealers then said "It would have been better to save the $400." I did not appreciate the comment as it was too easy to say after the fact. In general though the crew was very appreciative and did get $250 for the fire bet I made for them. The last point was an eight and never did get to the six which was the last fire bet unhit.

Below is a photo I took of my chips after I left the table. I bought I a total of $900 ($500 initial and $400 for the lay) so the lay for $410 really hurt my profits. I think I will do a lay for the sixth fire bet no matter which number, but due to the odds, I don't think I will lay the 4 and 10 on the fifth fire bet number. But I am considering laying other point numbers.

BTW, I too am looking for my first 6 point firebet win after years of playing. The difficulty of catching that "unicorn" is part of the reason I like ATS bets as a win on those side bets are much more likely.

Wait---you made a bet for the crew? Is admitting something like that suppose to impress the other amateurs on here?? Does throwing away your money make you believe the "crew" will do something....ANYTHING, to make you lose less or win more?

And people wonder why casinos win more than they lose.....

I continue to be baffled as to why ANY table game player would ever make the dumb mistake of placing a bet for the dealer or crew. It makes zero sense. That's nearly as stupid as giving some "casino host" a gift at Christmas or some undue tip for simply doing their job--which as everybody already knows is to extract as much money from their guests as possible, without regard in the least for any financial harm it may cause to anyone anywhere.

What's the point of tipping or betting for the crew or dealers? They gonna do anything special to make you win more or lose less? They gonna turn around and tell you how shapely your tits are or how big a dick you look like you're packing? Or maybe they might compliment you on how few zits you have.

C'mon people. You're making it look like only dufuses have 7-Stars cards. I happen to already believe that that's the case, but there's others here who'll buy in to most of what you do and say.

    Wise up.

I have never made a don't bet on the remaining point for the Fire or the ATS. I just can't bring myself to bet against myself. Even when another is shooting -- I want it ALL.

However, there were many times there was only one remaining number I needed for the ALL, and sometimes it was a 6 or 8 (yeah, "easy" numbers, LOL) and I missed them and regretted I was greedy.

Alan, given your expressed regret, if you were one point number away from the ALL, what percentage of the ALL proceeds would you lay against on that point number?

I still wouldn't do it. And usually the number I need is a horn number which you can't lay. On these last two ALLs the last numbers were 11 and 12.

Alan looks like you were the only ATS bettor on one table and there was only one on the other. Were the tables fairly empty? I would hate to skip that bet and watch the ALL be hit while I was on the table.

I was the ONLY player. I try to play at tables where there aren't others. I'm not there to socialize and I don't want to be throwing dice to another side of the table that's loaded with chips.

Alan-I also usually tried to play at an empty table so that I could shoot more often and have open space at which to throw. People, probably correctly, would tell me that I was blowing comps because at a busy table you might have only 5 rolls to every 15 or 20 playing alone. As a result, my time at the table is diminished compared to playing the same number of rolls at a busy game.

    My response--I don't give a s''t.

I can relate. Perhaps your hedge was a little tall. One thing is for sure though, if you had seven-ed out, you wouldn't have felt as bad about the hedge. Also, I loved the hard 10 bet. You hedged the hedge.

The second photo (with boxcars showing) looks like another $5 bet on ALL and $5 on Tall. So unless that was for the crew, it appears you were not alone at that time.

One thing I like about the ATS bets is that if I hit an ALL, it is a signal to me that I can take off with a nice score. While regular play does not typically make me get off the table and therefore I sometimes play until I lose my profits.

The dealer also raised my Benjamins to the light and checked them out to reduce the chance they were counterfeit. I then placed a $5 chip on the passline. I was prepared to wait until a point of 6 or 8. The dice were passed to the other side of the table to a middle aged woman, passing me by. I did not expect to get the dice since I had not been playing, in truth I did not want the added pressure of rolling as well. As if the gambling gods heard my inchoate prayer, a point of six was immediately made. I then put $500 odds behind our bet. Here is a photo of our bet which I sneaked in without being tossed out of the place.

    FAB,

Did you guys ever consider put betting either the 6 or the 8 instead of going through the pass line?

    Hi Dannyj

I never thought of that. I wonder if Casino Royal would have allowed it. How are the tables in Tahoe treating you?

We are driving down (from Southern Oregon) on Tuesday morning. Will be there six days. My wife is getting a little worried about the extended forecast with snow likely when we leave for home. They maintain the roads down the grade pretty well right?

Looking forward to the crap tables, lots of VP, and sports betting.
