Thread: MGM hikes parking rates again?

I don't do much, if any, gambling at MGM properties, but I eat and go to shows at the properties. These parking rates are just high enough for me to curtail that. If I really want to attend a show, I'm now motivated to keep my car where it is and grab a cab. So I'm glad MGM is helping the cabbies out.

Anybody stupid enough to pay for parking at any of the MGM or CET properties in LV deserves any of the hassles that might come along with staying and/or playing at either one of these FOREIGNER FIRST conglomerates. They know no sane local would ever waste their time or money contributing to such foolishness, and most US visitors have enough brains to simply go somewhere else.

I'll be honest about this: I avoid any business that doesn't have free, convenient parking.

As long as I have free valet at Caesars and MGM properties I'll go there. But the day I lose free valet is the day I stop going to these casinos.

Again, I think charging for parking at casinos is atrocious.

That's part of the stark point Alan. That "free parking" isn't free for the vast majority--and maybe even better than 99.9%--of 7-Stars players. So for you to be proclaiming continued allegiance to a crummy property and player's club like CET when you now have a plethora of other far better choices, is stupefying.

Frankly Rob, I don't think Red Rock is better than Caesars. I think Red Rock has some nice features but point by point Caesars is better.

I haven't been to that other Stations property in Henderson that you rave about but I have heard from locals it is not superior to Red Rock.

Without playing another dime at any Caesars property I still have thousands of dollars of freebies available including free dining and free show tickets ahead.

I just received this unsolicited offer in the email this morning:

    Name: M life credit card.jpg

This offer says that with this credit card I can self park for free on all MGM properties. It also says I will be automatically upgraded to Pearl Status, Get Priority Check-in, and buffet line passes. I really don't have any need for this card but thought some of you might be interested.

Alan, the main reasons Caesar's is a cut below RR is location, parking, video poker pay tables, clientele, and their rooms are far nicer. And the main reason GVR is a notch above RR is restaurants, rooms, the overall palatial feel when walking around anywhere but the casino floor, and how the entire property including the rooms are impeccable.

Asking locals who don't stay or can't afford to dine at some of these restaurants means nothing. And you'll find that people in Summerlin want their property to be tops, while those in Henderson do the same. That's why you need to experience both from top to bottom in order to come to an educated conclusion. However, go to too many of those local dives you've been getting dragged thru and your opinions will become diluted.

Of course you did mickey. No job, no income outside of the government handouts, no play history, no work history, an alcoholic AND a smoke fiend....hmm....very credible indeed!!

Rob, you keep on with the same old psychobabble. Like I said, if you can show any kind of evidence that I receive any kind of government assistance I will donate $10,000 to your favorite charity. Think of the feather it would put in your cap, Psychobabble Robbie.

Rob doesn't need the money, mickey. He's independently wealthy. Besides, if you actually had to prove stuff, what would he write about?

It's always fun showing how stupid Rob is. So I didn't receive this offer, eh Rob?

Rob, I've gotta ask. When exactly did you become an expert on "palatial feel?" Do you need a degree for that? Or is that something that comes automatically for classy individuals?

  17. #17
There's a difference between understanding the feeling after having been to a number of places around the world, and being an expert in them. And I assure you----stepping foot inside a cousin property to Ellis Island does not qualify.

Not to make too fine a point of it, but last I checked, the definition of "palatial" was "resembling a palace in being spacious and splendid."

Now I did have a friend whose father was adviser to the Shah way back when, and she visited the Shah's palace just about every day, so I took her word on what "palatial" might look like (yes, they really did use gold bathtub fixtures). I'm not sure traipsing through a Hilton in Japan or getting a room at Green Valley Ranch qualifies as understanding "palatial," but if you say so, you say so.

A poster on vpFREE says she has the card and it works as advertised.

Alan, I think I'm done with Caesars as we've run into the nightclub crowd on our last two visits. What a cluster when the showroom lets out and the crowd is gathered for the opening of the club. We've tried both Red Rock and GVR while out on and about in Vegas. Both are way too smoke filled for us, we had dinner at both, walked through the casino and left. The Venetian was great on our last visit, must be a good air filtration system there, because we hardly noticed the smoke. We will probably stay there again on our next time through.
