Thread: $1 craps, Quad Aces

  1. #1
I've been having a heck of time following Janet around Vegas. Wednesday night is her karaoke night and this time she wanted to try the Fortune Casino in Henderson. I was surprised -- it was a cute little casino with little smoke, and a perfect temperature -- one of the few casinos I've ever been in where I didn't need a jacket. She went into the "Fortune room" to watch and sing karaoke with friends and she said I could try out their craps table.

Their craps table was quite a lot of fun because it was a $1 game. No kidding. And the best part about the $1 game is that I finished the evening with a $32 profit after tipping.

Then I joined Janet to watch her second and third songs and to have dessert.

After that her next stop was the same bar owned by Ellis Island where she had a drink and I had a diet coke (I don't drink) and played a little video poker.

On my last four trips to Caesars I didn't get quad aces... but playing 25-cents Bonus I got quad aces. And I got the quad aces when holding a single jack. Amazing luck. Photo below. Profit at video poker was $135 on the evening, and this time both our drinks and food were comped. Photo below. But as you can see, its a ten-coin bet at 25-cents per coin.

Funny how you're discovering Las Vegas like a nubie Alan.

What did I know about Vegas before? I knew there was a Strip. I knew there were some other big casinos off the Strip.

Even when I did my Best Buys Show in Vegas for a short time, all I knew were the businesses that advertised with me. I had no idea what went on in the rest of the city. Frankly, I didn't know the AAA ball team the 51s even existed until earlier this week.

And on the gambling side, now I am finding out that many of these bars with video poker machines are linked though a players club with a comp system. And I had no idea there were so many small casinos all over the place.

Nice. Cool to see you explore new things there instead of the same ole Caesars stuff. Possibly a "Best Buys/Deals" of Vegas in the works? Nice hit on the VP too! And BTW, odds of hitting those aces holding one card....1 in 178,365. :-) But don't get cocky about it!!! ;-)

Wow -- long odds. Congrats on that lightning bolt.

I'm sure he'd rather have had the 1 in 178,365 royal cards fall in though.

A great way to get Aces. However, when you hold a single card, ANY resulting draw is a 1 in 178,365 chance. So the math is basically irrelevant here. And it is no match for luck.

Certainly Rob, we know that. I'm sure Alan would've settled for drawing J994 to make two pair. Had he specifically wanted quad aces only, he should've used a "special play" and drew five cards. :-)

To put it in perspective though, you've got a better chance of being dealt a natural straight flush TWICE than drawing four aces holding one card.

They often have very plush seating and much chatting with regulars. The linked Comp System is ALSO accepted at one of the "real" casinos, I think it is Planet Hollywood which wanted to get the "graduates" of the more socially oriented bars. Those bars have websites that list bonus status on the machines and beer and food 'specials'.

Nice hand-play. Just curious. Was there another high card?
