Thread: Scarred Book

Recently I have made some wagers in the book and have had nothing but problems. The amounts aren't even over 1500 and I get shut down. They completely have the best of it but are really scared to have to payout. I'm sure it's just the local Casino Books giving me headaches making me walk around placing smaller wagers to get it in. I'm guessing up on the strip they wouldn't blink but it's a hassle for me to go to the strip. Anyways thanks for reading my rant.

Monet, would there be any drawback to using the William Hill automated kiosk(s) to place your wager(s) ?

Not sure why if it you feel you have an edge or good bet why it’s so hard to head to the strip. Come on, you are betting good money and if you can make the numbers match, why not give the bastards at CZR or MGM the action? They don’t blink but sometimes the numbers don’t match.

If the numbers are off you already have the answer on why the little guys sweat your bet.

Your a Vegas guy, you know the cab and Uber rates, why is it a hassle?

Get some online accounts (and have your 'friends' Get some as well)

Don't let table game's suggestion fool you. FYI that's not a dig on him, it's just how they operate. If the bet seems good to an AP (not some normal bet like a SB O/U) There's a good chance they won't take much action on it, even at the kiosk. The year before last we were betting so much on the kiosks on the 1/2 parlays on the kiosks they disallowed any parlays of that nature on all WH kiosks from here to Laughlin. I was told they even killed the betting in Reno on the Kiosks (I didn't confirm this information)

Even online at huge books like Pinacale they put limits on most of the bets that seem to have good value.
Especially prop bets, as little as a $10 wager will move the line significantly.

We had some good information this year about some halftime prop bets(IIRC all of them came in) but we could not get much action down.

FYI a few of us were tossed our of a rather large sports book known to take large action.

No I have no clear edge on these bets. I'm just firing. That's why I get a bit perturbed about it because the book has the clear edge. Straight up bets don't have as much of a problem but it seems two teamers giving 4 or 5 to 1 scares them. They just don't like the idea of risking a large payout which is silly in my opinion. Your talking about a bet that should pay around 7 or 8 to 1 and they pay 4 to 1! I just find it humorous and frustrating that they really protect it the way they do. I knew an old time bookie who never worried about parlays. He would take those bets all day long with those cut numbers. It's like anything in Vegas... they want volume and a billion 5 dollar bettors. They don't really want the large action on any game. Lefty said long ago that Vegas plays scared and it's true for the most part. Actually better to grind and fly under the radar in my experiences. When you start wagering large amounts people notice and worst of all they remember your name.

Driving up to the strip is a serious cluster ---- for me. I don't like it at all and have basically avoided it since the Aladdin changed names.
