While the rest of you CET slaves were playing marriage/annulment counselors, AP'ing your way into story-telling heaven, or wet-dreaming about how to finally learn how to leave casinos with a profit, my wife & I headed up to Laughlin the past four days with two other "mature" couples on our Harley's. It was my 3rd River Run experience, and while the majority of you are probably too soft or cowardly to ride bikes, if you miss this event then you miss an extraordinary experience of sight, sound, and atmosphere. Even at my age, it gets better every year.
I'm no longer someone who enjoys being around crowds of people, but at least for this long weekend event it was a very decent bunch of people. It helps of course that we all had one major thing in common. Throw in the '60's music and the fact that any Hillary people were just too afraid to attend, and what you have is a comfortable time of chatting, dining, long walks along the beautiful Colorado River with the mountains in the background, some gambling, some riding, and a little too much souvenir buying.
We came home overnight since I always drive when the traffic's light, and that's especially important when biking. And while I did not hit any hand higher than quad 2's, 3's & 4's, after all expenses and purchases we returned home with $180 more than what we left with. And that includes the $165 for the doggie hotel.
Get off your butts and go to it next year, it's 36th year. Have some fun instead of complaining about everything.
