Laughlin itself is a "working class" version of Vegas. It is very small (basically just one long street of hotels), and sits on the Colorado River. Despite the riverside location, there are oddly not many water activities in the area. You can hang out on a (small) beach attached to Harrah's, you can ride the "water taxi" between hotels, and you can rent a boat from a few places across the river (in Bullhead City, Arizona), but most who come to Laughlin don't tend to do all that much on the river.
Laughlin is brutally hot in the summer. It's worse than Las Vegas. For example, today's high in Laughlin was 111 degrees, and it's only June 5! By contrast, Las Vegas was 104. In July, don't be surprised to see Laughlin topping 120 on some days,
Laughlin is quieter than Vegas. The tourists there are less glamorous and stuck up. The limits at the games are lower. The restaurants are not as good, but there are more low-priced options than you will find in Vegas.
Harrah's Laughlin itself is okay. If you don't have kids with you, you should ask for the "Adults Only" tower, as it's both quieter and nicer.
Try to ask for a suite. They might give it to you if they are slow. The standard applied for a suite in Laughlin is lower than in Vegas.
Harrah's Laughlin is not luxurious, but it's not terrible. The dining isn't much to write home about. There's an okay cafe, the mediocre Guy Fieri Mexican restaurant, and a steakhouse I've never tried (though I can't imagine it being on par with the better steakhouses in Vegas).
If you're a single guy, you're not going to see too many hot, single chicks around Laughlin. Unlike Vegas, where "girls' trips" are common, most young and middle-aged women in Laughlin tend to be there with a boyfriend or husband.
Given that you're in New York, perhaps you should take them up on the free flight, and then rent a car and drive to Vegas.
One little trick, which I believe still works: If you have comped rooms in Vegas, you can have your hotel in Laughlin at the same time, and they typically don't notice. If you want to do this, book your Vegas room first, then respond to the Laughlin offer. They will likely book it for you without bothering to check that you also have a Vegas room. Of course, this will hurt your ADT, but I don't know if you care about that. If you do, you can always just split the trip to where part of it is in Laughlin and part is in Vegas, and then return to Laughlin for the flight home.
You probably won't want to spend a week in Laughlin.
