Thread: Did I just kill my average daily theoretical?

  1. #1
Many savvy players carefully monitor their average daily theoretical to maximize their offers. I know of players who will "clock out" at table games just before the casino day ends so they don't short play into a new day.

I've never been concerned with this however about two years ago my daily average was clobbered when it was mistakenly reported at Caesars Palace that I played roulette for about twenty minutes on a day I wasn't even in Vegas. That caused my offers to drop dramatically.

However over the last couple of days I have no one to blame but myself if my average takes a hit.

On Saturday whIle staying with my GF in Vegas we went to Nobu at Caesars. I used comp points from my Total Rewards card to pay for dinner. There was ZERO play.

On Monday night we attended a show at Paris on free tickets from a Vegas show club. I used my TR card for valet parking. Again, ZERO play.

Will these two days kill future offers as the 20 minutes of roulette play did two years ago?

Or, since my card was not used for anything casino related will I slide by?

ADT Tripping: Darryl McEwen says it does not trigger a gaming day when only spending Reward Credits (in a gift shop, restaurant, etc), and podcast host Bob Dancer seems to agree.

Not sure about using your TR card for valet parking.

    Hi Alan:

I first ran into the problem of diluting my Harrah's ADT in Reno when on a couple of trips I inserted my card in a comp kiosk just to check my balance. It diluted my offers so much, I avoid Harrah's for years. But that was even before Harrah's merged with Ceasars so I do not know the rules now. My rule of thumb is any time a card is swiped, it is a "trip" for ADT purposes. My hunch is that the "free" Diamond shows in Vegas triggered a "trip" so it will probably hurt your rating. If you have a good relationship with your host, why don't you ask him or her?

Is this the girlfriend who is a chef at Fremont casino?

This was not a Diamond show. My GF belongs to two groups in Vegas that gets free show tickets when seats are not sold.

No. Not the chef. We had only one date.

I want to know when "Alan's guide to picking up Women" is coming out. You seem to be a chic magnet.

Tip #1 Don't claim to be an advantage player or video poker expert. Good looking women don't give a damn.

By the way I have an excellent relationship with my host but even my host could not reverse the negative change to my ADT caused by the false report about playing roulette. My host took this all the way up showing I had no rooms in Vegas, didn't go to any restaurant and never even made a purchase of any kind. After all I wasn't even in Nevada that weekend.

My offers took a big hit for a six month period and recovered only about 50% of their previous value a year layer.

My host was told once it's in the system it can't be removed.

Of course the big lesson for everyone is to check with a floor person about your rating when you finish playing... and hope no one enters your card number in error for a low level player.

No. Tip #2 is to let women know you're really available.

Women want to be married. And if a guy comes off as being unavailable or unreachable or bitter or having The Peter Pan Syndrome (I won't grow up) they won't bother with you.

Your host could have fixed it by entering phony sessions to counteract the (fake) no-play on your record.

This likely would have required supervisory approval, but provided that was acquired, they could have entered you in for a few hours at blackjack at $100/hand, or whatever.

Personally, I feel that casinos are shooting themselves at the foot by defining any visit to the property as a "trip". Vegas doesn't work like that anymore. Gamblers visit casinos sometimes to gamble, and sometimes for entertainment (shows, dinner, etc). They shouldn't be penalized for the latter, nor should they be penalized for an "outlier" session where they play low limit blackjack with friends for fun.

Comp systems should aim to identify the typical (rather than average) daily theoretical of a customer, along with the number of comps he or she redeems. That's it. It should not be docking people "points" for visiting the property occasionally for fun.

One day casinos will realize this and stop making the system work that way.

I think the strategy for getting women in their 50s (the age Alan tends to date) and the strategy for younger women are quite different.

But I am curious, Alan... where are you meeting these women? From dating sites?

Dan you have quite an imagination. Now you think hosts can enter imaginary play sessions in the Total Rewards system? No wonder you have problems over Gatorade.

It's a big world out there for meeting women. You just have to get your face away from gaming tables and video poker screens. Although one long time girlfriend I met at a craps table -- she was there with her girlfriend for a weekend trip. But she was the only date I ever met in a casino. Every other woman I dated I met somewhere totally unrelated to casinos or gaming and these include work, supermarkets, department stores, sidewalks stopped and waiting at a red light, driving stopped at a red light, salons getting my hair cut, or going to parties.

I'm surprised you didn't have more success with Aunt Sylvia at a Bar Mitzvah?
