Thread: It Has Come To My Attention....

  1. #21
As you know, I had a combination kidney/pancreas transplant about 9 years ago.

For the first six months following surgery I wasn't allowed to go to casinos -- period. And for the first year following my surgery I had to wear a face mask when playing.

(I also could not eat salads, or vegetables for fruits for the first six months, and had to have my meats cooked well done or at least medium well so there was no blood or cool centers. All this so as not to risk bacteria.)

Now, I'm pretty much like everyone else. I wash my hands regularly, I use a paper towel to open bathroom doors, I avoid restaurants where I don't trust the look and feel of the place.

I am not a smoker. I will avoid smokers. If someone is blowing smoke in my direction I will ask them to stop and I have never had a problem with a smoker who didn't. I like the non smoking craps tables at Bellagio.

Actually, I have found that Caesars has a larger percentage of non smoker than other casinos. Maybe it's the age/income thing that means fewer smokers?

In general, I think there are fewer smokers in casinos than there were five years ago.

You might want to take a closer look at Bingo. It can somtimes be +EV and one of the better entertainment value plays in the casino.

Maybe there are fewer, but it is still a factor in the amount of time we spend in casinos. We talked about wearing masks, but then thought if we need to wear masks why the hell are we going at all?

We were encouraged when Harrah's New Orleans went smoke free, it's a city ordinance and I realize Las Vegas will never pass a like ordinance, but it's a step in the right direction. The higher end stand alone hotels have gone non-smoking.

I'm waiting for the day a class action goes through for the smoking related health issues of casino employees in Nevada. The only way it will change is if they get hit hard enough in the pocketbook.

The most idiotic thing I've seen was a guy wearing a mask that had a hole in it with his own cigarette sticking out of it.

Now I got a laugh out of that.

Gee Rob... she has been taking me to these dive bars for karaoke and video poker. Not only has she had two dealt royals in the past week, but she's had 6 other royals so far this year.

Oh... I forgot to tell you... she's a babe, too.
Alan, what's the difference if she's a "babe" or not. Your out-of-control gambling has cost you FOUR marriages, numerous humiliating circumstances, and leaves you forever in need of a JOB (yes, unfortunately to any vp addict that also stands for jacks-or-better) that only provides the undeniably sad fact that you will likely die a lonely old man. And for someone who has mercifully been given a wonderful second chance, you do nothing but continuously slap it right across the face. The world of normal, respectable people see this as a tremendous waste with a huge dose of being eternally ungrateful.
The "die old and lonely if you don't change your ways" line always gets me. The fact is, with a happily married couple that gets old, one will die before the other, and the other will die old and alone. So if Rob's wife dies first, he will die old and alone.

Mickey... I've learned to ignore Rob's online rants and lectures. Everyone should do the same. It's just his act.

LOL -- Rob speaks for the world of "normal, respectable people." Wow. I do not know where to start with that one. Somebody help me out.

Rob has dating advice, retirement advice, and life-in-general advice. He's a genuine life coach. I see a Best Buys series: "Deep Thoughts with Rob," followed by "Rob's Guide to Hot Weekends," maybe capped by "Smart Money with Rob," where he guides the audience through bankruptcy, how to not tip, and driving a Winnebago in South Dakota so as to avoid all the pesky traffic and minorities.

Alan, you've got a goldmine by the tail. Better sign him up!
Very spot on post....He could also be the author of a book titled "How to marry a woman that looks like my great-grandmother"

Oh, I realize that there are certain advantages and some tricks that can be applied to get up to a plus1.5 percent advantage, but for me it would be akin to playing Go Fish at a positive advantage. Good money perhaps but I'd never live down the shame and disgrace of it and certainly would not enjoy the experience. A cold, rainy and windy morning will cut the turnout so those who do show up gain a slight margin but its still an activity that I would have to wear a disguise to go to it.

CET isn't stupid. They know they can rope all you idiots into losing your money on their poor games because, first of all, you're addicted to playing them and to the TR program. You know who you are....yes you do.

So what about these "cruises"? Well, that should speak for itself. Can you just IMAGINE Alan taking the latest in his string of Lolita's--which because he knows nothing more than constantly dragging them thru casinos, his womanizing label will never wear thin--can you imagine him taking ANY date on a cruise that didn't include 24/7 video poker? That would leave the most beautiful cruise in the world, one that cruises the Hawaiian Islands, totally off the agenda, simply because there are no casinos at any port of call?!!

And can you just IMAGINE casino slugs like jbjb and RS__ doing ANY activity other than wasting their lives inside casinos, whole looking at meaningless futures amongst their current rut of struggles because of it?

Yet there are people who love these cruises, and people who actually PAY for them instead of losing two or three times their value just to claim "I got it FREE from CET"!

    Wise up, losers.

This thread is somewhat ironic because Rob was always telling of his casino vacations where he drug the wife along.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ

Several years ago, from my little Montana home, I took a wild guess on vpFREE and speculated that Dancer and others were buying massive bingo packages on electronic units and playing bingo with their player's club points. Take a game like 10/7 DB, essentially a breakeven game, run massive action then play off the points in the bingo hall. You could probably even do it with NSUD and make a profit. It turns out I was right. Bob told about it after the casinos cut the amount of packs you could buy with your points.

There used to be a subculture of gamblers in Las Vegas that chased the coverall progressives around town. They went by various names but the one at the Plaza was called the Bonanza Coverall. The jackpot started at $20,000. A certain percentage of every card sold for the game went into the progressive. At reset you had to hit the coverall in 48 numbers or less. If not hit in a week then the number would move up to 49. If it didn't hit that week the number went up to 50, etc. The progressive would get up into the $30,000's.

This coverall progressive did not attract a large crowd until the number hit 53. Once it hit that number every seat in the bingo hall was taken with people playing as many cards as possible. The number never got to 54. It was always hit at 53.

I don't know much about the math of it but that was what was going on. And I think you could even check where the numbers were online.

If your in Vegas you have other places to play and earn Free Cruises. I have been on 4 in my life and I am not sure if I want to go on anymore. In the last 6 months I had many cruise offers from AZ Charlies, SLS, and Stations. I am pretty sure everyone knows that Stations gives away a Free Cruise every year to players and if you play enough you can get multiple offers. The Hawaii Cruise seems nice but I still haven't booked it and it is a 15 day cruise. I also had an Alaska Cruise with another Casino but declined. I would like to do the Alaska and or Hawaii and Europe if possible but it is harder for me to leave the House these days so I may miss all of the offers. I had a conversation with an old friend about the Stations Cruise because I was curious if I took the cruise if it would effect my offers and we both agreed that it could theoretically but we don't know for sure.

A few years ago I had to drive the family to Texas and we went on a cruise to Jamaica and a couple other stops. We went with Circus Circus because they offered 2 free tickets if you earned so many points so I had 6 tickets. It was nice being with them because they gave away a lot of free stuff every day and night to our rooms. Free Tournaments every day as well so that was nice. We almost drowned going white water rafting in Jamaica but it was a really good vacation!
